Accomplishments
Order of Omega Member, October 2012-Current
Order of Omega is a co-educational society that only allows 15 members (3 percentage of Greek community) at any given time. We do the behind the scenes work for the whole community. It is quite an honor to be a part of this great organization.
Gamma Sigma Alpha National Honors Fraternity President/Re-founder, March 2012-Current
Re-founded Gamma Sigma Alpha national honors fraternity. This is a co-educational organization with an emphasis on higher education. I identified this organization as a recognized one on our campus and am currently the president. We now have over 30 members. Membership requirements are to be a junior in standing and have earned a 3.5 or higher in one or more semesters as a junior or higher.
Inter-Fraternal Council (IFC) Vice President of Education, March 2012-Current
The IFC is the governing council of all fraternity operations. It consists of 6 individuals voted in by the entire community. As VP of Education my job is to educate, train, and prepare new members for their Fraternity experience. I facilitate and put together a variety of events ranging from New Member Institute, PhotoVoice, and many other events that offer the new affiliates the best chance at success throughout their college experience.
New Student Orientation Assistant (NSOA), September 2011-Current
Volunteering as an NSOA was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. I had the opportunity to work first hand with the universities incoming freshman, transfer, and international students. I was assigned 42 students with another NSOA to lead through the first four program. There were 130 NSOA's and I was one of 8 to be qualified to have disabled students in my group. Also I was selected to introduce all of the professors in the communications department to the entire congregation of students, parents, and professors.
Eastern Michigan University Judicial Board Justice, September 2011-Current
I am currently a Justice on the EMU judicial board. I take hearings weekly with a board mixed with students and faculty. I feel that it is very intriguing to see how the judicial system works, and feel honored to be a part of it.
Fraternal Executive Recruitment Chairman, December 2009-December 2012
Since I was initiated, I have been recruitment chairman of my fraternity. When I was initiated I was in a class of 4, and the fraternity had 18 active members with a fraternity average GPA of 2.25. After 4 semesters of my diligent recruiting, our chapter today, has 36 active members with a fraternity average GPA of 3.11,which is the best of all fraternities on our campus. Our current associate class has 16, the most in the history of the chapter. We have won both numbers, and quality recruitment awards from our nationals and Eastern Michigan University every semester since I have been heading it up.
Experience
May 2010 to September 2011
Theo's Bar and Grille Ypsilanti, Michigan
Bartender/Bar-back
Started out as a bar-back, and worked my way up to becoming a bartender. Enjoyed working in an extremely fast paced demanding environment. Had great relationships with co-workers. Reason for leaving was the owner selling the establishment.
April 2009 to September 2011
Cedar Point Sandusky, Ohio
Ride Host/Security
Started out as a ride host on the wicked twister at Cedar Point. Had a role in operating a multi million dollar roller coaster. Treated the process with the respect it deserved. Ended up transferring to security because of better hours and the organizations high demand for security. Reason for leaving is because it was a seasonal job.
