WORK EXPERIENCE
Staff Engineeer January 2011 to Present
PanGEO, Inc. Seattle, WA Geotechnical Engineering
WSDOT SR520 Medina to SR 202: Eastside Transi t and HOV Project ($306M Design-Build)
Designed associated highway infrastructure in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
and WSDOT Geotechnical Design Manual.
Analyzed and designed drilled shafts, spread footings, fish passage structures, stormwater detention ponds,
earth embankments, reinforced slopes and retaining walls. Designed wall types include MSE, soil nail, soldier
pile, Cast-In-Place, noise, rockery and gravity block.
Evaluated subsurface conditions and recommended various ground improvement options including over-
excavation, preloading, EPS backfill, timber piles, rolling surcharge and shear elements.
Checked slope stability for external global failures due to static and pseudo-static conditions.
Calculated bearing resistance, settlement and apparent earth pressures.
Evaluated groundwater conditions and assessed borings for liquefaction potential.
Prepared and reviewed subsurface profiles, earth pressure diagrams and calculation packages.
Assisted in preparation of geotechnical reports, technical memorandums, work plans and white papers.
Coordinated with other design disciplines, subcontractors and agencies.
Staff Engineer June 2007 to September 2008
Wallace-Kuhl and Associates Inc. West Sacramento, CA Geotechnical Engineering
Performed subsurface investigations for residential subdivisions, parks, schools, single story commercial
buildings and high-rise structures.
Monitored and documented slurry wall construction operations for the Feather River levee.
Calculated bearing capacities, settlement, lateral resistance, pavement sections and seismic design parameters.
Logged soil borings/test pits and classified soil using the Unified Soil Classification System.
Performed various laboratory and field tests in accordance with ASTM/Caltrans test methods.
Conducted groundwater percolation studies and in-situ shear wave velocity tests.
Experienced with cone penetrometer, solid-flight auger, hollow-stem auger and mud-rotary drilling systems.
Conducted engineering reconnaissance including site visits, utility research, site geology and reviewing aerial
photography for previous site developments.
Drafted boring logs, subsurface profiles and geological cross-sections.
Coordinated field operations with clients, contractors and governing agencies.
Assisted project engineers with report preparation.
