PROJECT ENGINEER
Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) Pipeline Project, Russia
Supervised a team of 10 engineers and support staff to
develop the Caspian Pipeline Project TEOC documents
(similar to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission or FERC
filing documents in the US) for filing in Russia. This was
the first TEOC of its kind developed and delivered for
evaluation to the Russian govenrment. The TEOC Documents
consisted of 38 sets of 115 books of which 26 sets were in
the Russian language. The TEOC was completed and delivered
as scheduled in Moscow. The Caspian Pipeline is a 1500 km
pipeline extending from Kazakhstan to the Black Sea.
Responsibilities included project coordination, supervision
of staff, interfacing with clients, government officials,
Fluor Project Management team and Fluor Engineering team.
Unocal Bangladesh, Western Region Integrated Project
Performed front end engineering for a gas pipeline
extending from three wellheads to a gas processing facility
to various power generating plants. Performed design of a
Supervisory and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System comprising
a host station, remote terminal units (RTUs) and
programmable logic controllers (PLCs), a telecommunications
system utilizing a microwave backbone for data and voice
communications, and a leak detection system using the
statistical filtering method. Responsibilties also included
proposal development,evaluation of suppliers and project
cost estimate and scheduling.

Petro-Ecuador, Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline Expansion Project
Design of a Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) System for a 500km pipelin. Responsibilities
included control system design for pump stations and
presure reducing stations
Amoco Colombia, Opon Field Development Project
Design of a multiple host Supervisory, Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) System complete with radio and
satellite communications for a gas pipeline extending from
three wellheads to Opon Separators, then to Termo Santander
Power Generation Plant and to the El Centro gas processing
facilities. Performed instrumentation and control system
design. The existing El Centro facility was extensively
modified and used a Foxboro I/A system that interfaced with
Allen Bradley PLCs for compressor control and Emergency
Shutdown. Responsibilities also included overall
coordination for SCADA system, from conceptual design phase
through system start up and commissioning, interfacing with
suppliers and clients and technical evaluation of
suppliers' quotations..
British Petroleum (BP) Colombia Cusiana/Cupiagua Pipeline
Project
Performed a study to determine feasibility of a fiber optic
system for data and voice communications along the
pipeline.
Florida Power and Light (FP&L) Pipeline Leak Detection
Study
Performed a study to investigate current pipeline leak
detection methodologies and recommend a suitable system for
several of FP&L's installed pipelines.
Conoco/Pennzoil Hydrocracker Project
Geon (BP Goodrich) La Porte Phase 1
Instrumentation system design
Texas A&M Cogeneration Project
The Texas A&M Cogeneration Project included design of a
fuel gas pipeline to the facility. Responsibilities
included design of the instrumentation and supervisory
control system that communicated to an existing host via
leased lines.
Amoco Oil Waste Water and Neshap Compliance Project
Chevron Oil Waste Water and Neshap Compliance Project
Instrumentation and Control System design. The Amoco Oil
Texas City Refinery work also included for design and
purchase of a new Honeywell TDC 300 and modification of
existing Foxboro DCS.
Amoco-Trinidad Immortelle and Flambouyant
Instrumentation system design for two offshore gas
production complexes.
China National Petroleum Company Tarim Basin Pipeline
Conceptual Design
Design of a Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA) System complete with microwave and satellite
communication systems for a product pipeline and processing
facilities. Responsibilities included instrumentation and
control system design using Bailey DCS and Allen Bradley
PLCs and proposal development.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Onshore Gas
Production Facility
Performed front end Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) System design for a gas field wellhead
and gathering facility. Responsibilities also included
instrumentation and closed circuit television monitoring
system design.

PRESIDENT'S SEMINAR
The President's Seminar is the highest level of training in
Brown & Root's management development program and is
sponsored by Brown & Root and Rice University. It's
objective is to familiarize its participants with the
latest concepts and theories in today's business world. The
President's Seminars involves participation in the seminars
once a month for a full year. At the end of the course my
team and I gave an hour long presentation in the boardroom
on the topic of Business Acquisitions.
GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Graduate Development Program is for entry level
graduates and is designed to familiarize its participants
with the different business units within Brown & Root. I
was fortunate to rotate into 4 different business units,
namely Central Engineering, Power, Forest Products and
Petrochemicals. There I worked with a variety of different
groups including purchasing and scheduling, both, in the
field and in the office.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
Two years of participation in the Junior Achievement
program through the Brownbuilders Volunteer Council.
ENGINEERING DAY
Two years of participation Brown and Root's Engineering Day
festivities. Each year I presented a paper on "A typical
day for an Instrument Engineer" to high school students
interested in a career in Engineering
