Developed Catch Carbon practice to produce steel in the converter with high carbon
content and low inclusions level. Resulted in a paper and presentation at AISTech 2012
Atlanta.
Decreased the slag open eye and steel reoxidation at stirring station by using an
accelerometer.
Optimized the drawing mill process after reviewed the necessity of heat treatment and
analyzed the greatest reduction in each pass.
Metallography and Heat Treatment Laboratory - UFMG, Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Research Project - August 2009 July 2011
Worked with metallography characterization by using optical and scanning electron
microscopy, measurement of grain size and phase identification by using X-ray diffraction.
Analyzed the mechanical behavior after warm and cold rolling by using Vickers
microhardness. Also estimated mechanical behavior by tensile test.
Modeled the work hardening behavior of austenitic steel with TWIP effect.
Resulted in 2 papers.
Hot Forming Laboratory - UFMG, Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Research Project - January 2009 July 2009
Evaluated ultrafine grains in stainless steel after torsion test, by using optical and scanning
electron microscopy.
