Mission:
What is your specific interest in serving on the Board of POATRI?
If you like the changes the Board has made this past year, then vote for me. I intend to continue and expand
their effort. I support the openness initiated by the current board, as well as a policy of civil discussion.
I support opening our facilities in a fiscally responsible way. Our road maintenance program should continue
and expand as possible. Our roads and facilities make our properties more useful, accessible, and valuable.
I want to bring more members into good standing, so that our voting will be more representativ e.
We all love this place and can make it work for us.
Do you have particular ranch committees in which you are interested or particular areas of concern
relating to ranch operations?
My areas of concern are good roads, fiscal responsibility, respect and fair treatment of all members.
I think much of what I am interested in involves communication and so would like to work on communications
or publications.
I expect our discussions, policies, and programs to lend themselves to practical solutions. We all do our best and
this can unite us, not divide us.
Experience:
What skills or expertise can you offer to the Board of POATRI?
I have worked on Terlingua Ranch committees with 3 managers. I have been involved with volunteer
organizations most of my life. I like people, and can disagree without being disagreeable. I am organized and
have good follow up skills. I m willing to listen and will give the owners my best effort in making Terlingua
Ranch work for us all.
I will work to bring a thoughtful, informed opinion to meetings. I will cast my vote in the best interest of the
most members.

process?
I ve been on the Audit Committee for 3 years and am currently the chair. I have worked with our QuickBooks

several hundred thousand dollars. I was also responsible for fundraising and grant writing.

Section 3: Candidate Positions on POATRI Ranch Operations and Director Responsibility
Please discuss your suggestions/goals relating to the 4 major areas of ranch operation shown below? (200
word limit for entire answer)
Financial strategies such as assessment collection and budget planning and oversight.
Road Rehabilitation programs.
Use of the Lodge facilities. Since the Restaurant is currently closed, what are your ideas for its future
role?
Property Owner Communications
Supporting Ranch
I would be honored to serve the membership and the owners of Terlingua Ranch. I feel blessed to live here. If
elected to serve as one of your representatives, I would endeavor to leave Terlingua Ranch a better place for
those who will follow me.
Everything flows from access to our property. We must keep our roads open and in repair. When we are
financially able, I would like to see some major road re -work projects initiated so that we can eliminate stopgap
repairs with long term repairs. That will take some time and money.
I would like to see the restaurant open, but it is not currently feasible. I would be willing to investigate a lease, a
hostel type setup or community center.
I believe the Board of Directors sets policy for our staff to provide services to our owners. The Board is
entrusted to make decisions that impact all of us. I will represent the best compromises for the majority. I will
seek ways for more open communication between owners, management, and the Board under conditions that
assure a civil discourse between us. I will honor your right to disagree with me. Please do the same for me.
What is your understanding of your ethical and fiduciary responsibilities if a member of the POATRI
Board of Directors? (100 word limit)
My ethical and fiduciary responsibility is to make the best informed decision to keep our organization
financially sound while providing services to owners. I expect it will involve difficult decisions. Working on the
Audit Committee has shown me that we can make hard choices, provide more services, be fiscally responsible,
and not fracture the organization. The laundry, bathhouse, RV area, cabins and deer locker has been re-opened,
within our budget. Our roads are being maintained. We have increased our members in good standing
substantially this year. I hope you will give me the honor of working to continue this progress.
