CareRunner is a private social networking application to assist in the
care-giving process.
Architect:
Our team valued group ownership of code and architecture. A
constant dedication to improvement and refactoring led to the
publishing of our Ruby and Ruby on Rails tools including Evoke,
Riot, and Inquisition.
Agile Developer:
Our team included developers, designers, and a product manager in a
two week agile planning and release process.
Release Coordinator:
I assisted in the development and maintenance of deployment scripts
as well as development and production instances and servers.

One Design Company
Our small team of a designer and developers created the Ruby on Rails
social networking application RemixWorld for Digital Youth Network.
Architect:
Our team improved and extended open-source social networking
applications to include video and music streaming, an online store,
and multiple instances for other institutions.
Agile Developer:
We worked on a two-week release cycle, helping to plan for immediate
features as well as long-term goals for other institutions.
Release Coordinator:
I assisted in the management of production servers and deployment
scripts.
2006 - 2009

Software Engineer
Opensprints created open-source hardware and software for indoor
bicycle roller racing. As a free-software alternative to proprietary
racing software, it enjoys a much smaller setup cost that has allowed
it to be used in over 30 cities internationally.
Architect:
We designed and built many iterations of the software in a half
dozen graphic toolkits over the years before finally settling on
Shoes for large-scale deployment on Windows, Linux, and OSX. There
is a particular focus on real-time performance and cross-platform
compatibility.
On-Site Consultant:
We travelled directly to clients to demonstrate, install, and train
on software, hardware, and bicycles.
Event Organizer:
I located and secured venues, organized groups of volunteers and
co-organizers, and ran stage events for hundreds of people.
2007-2009

I participated in a large team to design and develop an online media and
advertising marketplace in Ruby on Rails.
Agile Developer:
Our team collaborated with users, product development, and
interaction teams to plan and adapt to long-term business goals. We
worked to develop effective accountability and performance metrics.
Architect:
I worked with a small team project to improve architecture to split
a large (20k+ line) Rails application into multiple, seamless
applications to support long-term growth and scalability. We also
improved performance for increased traffic loads.
Release Coordinator:
I led an initiative to move our projects and team to the Git
revision control system. I worked on a small team to design and
improve our deployment process. I trained developers in distributed
development and version control software.
