Project Manager (Contractor) - Gordon Food Services - Grand Rapids, MI 2/11 - 12/12

Perform all Project Manager activities managing mostly infrastructure projects for the Application Services, Network, Telecommunications and Help Desk domains.

Project: Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)

This is a multi phase project that I am currently the assigned Project Manager on. The Gordon Food Service (GFS) eCommerce initiative requires the improvement of GFS`s Information System (IS) high availability (HA) architecture; reliability, recoverability, timely error detection and continuous operation. Oracle RAC was chosen as the application to improve the HA architecture.

Phase 1 was completed under budget and received 100% of the possible objectives scoring. The RAC Architecture and Design documents were created. The Oracle RAC foundation which provides the defined 24x7 database HA and scalability requirements was implemented and integrated with other infrastructure components, such as, Disaster Recovery (DR), monitoring and backup/recovery systems.

Phase 2 will be completed a head of schedule and under budget. The initial PRD databases were deployed to the fully operational RAC PRD environment. The databases were also upgraded to Oracle 11gR2 with Unicode. In addition, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP`s) were formally defined to provide optimized, repeatable and reliable PRD support coverage.

Project: Home Office Telephone System Refresh

This was also a multi phase project and all phases were completed on schedule and below budget. The first phase of this project was a software and hardware upgrade to the NEC 2400 Telephone System. The upgrades supported Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)/Internet Protocol (IP) telephone sets. The second phase was the replacement of the current telephones to IP telephones which were used as the network connection for each employee's personal computer instead of running an extra network cable to each desk. The third phase increased the VM (voice mail) numbers and internal extension numbers from 4 digits to 5 digits. All Gordon Food Service VM numbers and internal extension numbers in the United States were affected by the change and over 70,000 new numbers were added.
