Helped the Foundation use web technology to open up philanthropy helping individuals and nonpro ts

gain funds and attention with online tools. Provided the tech strategy and sometimes code to make these

campaigns work.

Put together the Case Foundation s rst public grant competition, which used a combination of expert

With the two America s Giving Challenges, we took this openness even further, working with Causes

and other partners to incentivize individual fundraising. My work here was far less code (our partners

did the hard work), but spec writing and coordination for these big campaigns. The most recent AGC

A quick (but popular) campaign encouraged folks to commit to change in advance of the Obama

inauguration. Wrote the code for this campaign in Ruby on Rails. The app received more than 11k

Programmer-Analyst / Team Lead 2003 2006

ATS Public Safety Group Operations: Lead implementation teams for ATS Pyramid products, web-

based knowledge management systems for law enforcement organizations.

Connecticut State Police COLLECT System Replacement: Lead detailed design and coding for

a $3.5 mil. software customization and deployment for the state of Connecticut. A customized ATS Pyramid

XN2 will connect all of Connecticut s police to FBI CJIS justice, judicial and corrections systems using the

GJXDM standard for Justice XML to integrate with legacy systems.

Gathered requirements for message formats and user interface in a series of JAD sessions with client.

Developed and documented architecture in a Detail Design Document to guide coding staff.

Coding: lead a team of 6 programmers who coded the web-based graphical interface for Connecticut

hot les and implemented CT messaging in the ATS XMR switch. Coded in ASP.NET, C# and legacy

ASP and COM with an Oracle back end. Included QA, build process, regression testing and code

reviews.

Implementation followed full life-cycle best practices established by the Connecticut Department of

IT, including implementation and test plans, and phased approval for moving code from development

to staging and production environments. Provided test strategy and oversaw production of the test

plan.

National White Collar Crime Center: Lead deployment of customized knowledge management

software for the National White Collar Crime Center. Brought onto the project as deployment dates were

slipping, I regained team and client con dence and migrated 240,000 legacy XML documents with Oracle,

sed and Visual Basic, and delivered the project.

US Department of Labor: Responsible for the content of the US Department of Labor s public Web

site, dol.gov, and intranet labornet.dol.gov. Managed a team of six writers, producers, graphic artists and

usability experts that produces new web content under deadline and maintains a good share of the Depart-

ment s 50,000 web pages.

DOL Events Calendar, a public listing of current events, contributed by DOL staffers. Assembled an

interface design team that produced XSL templates for the ASP/XML application. Incorporated rapid

usability testing into the design process, a rst at DOL.

Developed XML/XSL templates for DOL standard interface, separating presentation from business

logic so that interface and back end teams can work simultaneously.

Compliance Assistance Database Editor: web-based index to DOL compliance assistance materials.

Rapid XSL prototyping with integrated usability testing meant that the application team had more

feedback from users. Client and team thus had more con dence in the strength of the product.
