research

Present research focuses are on developing tools for supporting note-taking

within analytical software for the analysis of unstructured text data.

How does representing notes as entities in an entity based visual

analytic tool affect the analysis process? (Summer 2011

– present)

Simon Fraser University - MSc ThesisRan a longitudinal (3-weeks) user study to observe the usage of a visual

analytic tool, CZSaw, with a note-taking component, CZNotes, to analyze a large

set of text data.Guided focus group sessions to determine usability issues and record

interesting unintended uses of the tool for further refinement of CZNotes.

Evaluating the Performance of Note-taking Techniques (Spring

2010)

Simon Fraser University – Graduate Course ProjectSetup and ran a user study with 36 individual participants to observe

different paper based note-taking styles used during analysis of text data to

inform the design of software based note-taking tools.
