Below is a list of all the machines I ran while employed at Trico.
Spectro- method for monitoring small particles, detects up to 23 elements that can be present in used oil due to mechanical wear.
FTIR- Is a statistical analysis also gives you early warning of lubricant degradation and contamination.
Particle Count- counts particles sizes greater then 4,6,25,50, and 100 symbol microns in size. To determine the amount of water in the oil.
Tan and Tbn- The Tan was to determine the total amount of acidic material in the lubricant and the TBN was to measure the lubricants alkalinity.
Viscosity at 40 and 100-measures the variation in kinematic viscosity due to the change in temperature.
Direct Reading- examines the amount of larger and small particles to determine the change in rate and severity of wear of the components of the machine.
Crackle Test- to detect the presence of free and emulsified water in oil by using a Hot plate.
Flash Point Open Cup- the test determines the temperature in Celsius at which the sample lubricant flashes.
Analytical Ferrography- This is when we made a side using 3 ml of oil to 2 ml of solvent and made a slide to see what was in the oil under a microscope.
Distillation- This test determined the percentage of water volume in petroleum products.
This was an ISO9000 certified lab and we followed all ASTM Methods.
I also did Data Entry by inputting an average of 1000 sample per day into your database to create a job list for the lab to perform the tests.
I was also a working supervisor for 5 years.
