Dear Derek,
I’ve held positions as an Industrial Designer and Engineer for the past 12 years; 10 of which have been in the kitchen bath cabinetry industry. I've recently acquired a high honors certificate in Project Management and plan to obtain a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. I’m also currently working on a certificate in Lean Manufacturing.
I currently hold the position of Product Engineering Supervisor at AyA Kitchens & Baths, which reports directly to the VP of Manufacturing and Operations. Today, AyA Kitchens & Baths is a $40 million a year company that manufactures out of a single 180,000 sqft facility which employs over 300 administrative and production staff members. AyA Kitchens & Baths is set up as a mass production facility which utilizes a majority of CNC machinery and produces between 2000 and 3000 cabinets on a weekly basis due to its proprietary PDM system.
I am currently responsible for leading, motivating, and managing the Product Engineering department. I oversee product development and implementation of new cabinets and accessories through their respective product lifecycle.
I have project managed during the planning phase of multi-million dollar facility expansions, performed countless efficiency and quality studies of our manufacturing process, and have implemented numerous design and process systems to reduce labour times, waste, and reworks. I have also aided in the design, development, and implementation of a proprietary product data management system.
I have strong passion and interest for innovative product design. I regularly attend design events and trade shows in a continual effort to stay immersed in the design world. I also continually educate myself in all aspects of business including leadership, management principles, and design thinking.
The accompanying resume can serve to provide you with greater detail of my experience and accomplishments. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Ryan Meade
