PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mechanical System Engineer Sept 2011- June 2012

Bombardier Transportation, India

● Prepared the technical specifications of mechanical systems (coupler, gangway and detrainment door) in rail vehicle, delivered and integrated them to a rail vehicle. This involved working with one or more suppliers to deliver a product that meets the specifications and performance requirements of Bombardier Transportation and its clients. It also involved phases of design verification, qualification tests, manufacturing, in-plant support and operational support.

● Carried out the technical evaluation of technical proposals, offers and drawings from the suppliers to validate the system designs by ensuring compliant to customer and legislative requirements via design review, design assurance statements, qualification testing at the supplier & on cars and drafting the resulting test, first article inspections, clause by clause responses to requirements.

● Supported the procurement team with all technical documentation necessary for a successful sourcing of the systems, integration and verification of the required system properties in the vehicle. Prepared and provided the technical documentation to the client for the various projects.

● Conducted the design reviews with the supplier and customer for the technical and the commercial negotiation of the respective systems.

● Established the required modifications (MR/ER) according to customer’s request using the CATIA V5, 3D COM and PDM packages and generated the respective 3 D models, modified drawings and BOMs etc. as per Bombardier Standards.

● Provided technical support to the production of railway car; identifying the root causes of shop floor issues and addressed the corrective actions so that the product achieves an acceptable level of reliability.

● Worked closely with counterparts in Europe (respective system engineers, lead engineers, specialists-acoustics, vibration, RAMS, safety) for integration of the various mechanical systems in a rail vehicle.

● Carried out the design works on carbody structures and interiors modification; Created and modified drawings of sheet metal and machined components for structure changes.

● Provided the operational support to close the technical open issues with the customer by conducting the onsite detailed investigation with the suppliers, team of PI engineers at various depots; found out the root cause of the problem; addressed the corrective action and applied the retrofit in the affected trains.

Banco Products (I) Limited, India

● Lead a technical team of draftsman, design and development engineers to complete conceptual design, detailed thermal calculation, 3D modelling and sample development of oil coolers, radiators and charged air cooler of earth moving equipment and heavy vehicles for JCB, Cummins, Escort, GE, GM, Bombardier, Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra, Austrian rail etc.

● Guided design and development team in preparing part proposal drawings: starting from rough design concepts, 3D CAD model up to detail/final drawings, including all drawing information: tolerance/fits, GD&T specifications, dimensional stacks and surface finishes. Also prepared the BOM & costing of the products for tender submission to customer; mentored the team for the execution and completion of the Engineering Work Order (EWO) from concept to final product launch after customer’s design approval.

● Prepared material requisitions using SAP software and worked with vendors & suppliers for product development.

● Organized and controlled the assembling, disassembling, and repairing works of the heat exchangers after welding, brazing & other operations and conducted its various validation tests (like wet leak test, heat dissipation test, pressure impulse test, burst test, thermal shock test, external corrosion test and vibration test) before product dispatch.

● Conducted and involved in regular design review meetings to address design issues and keep the technical team to stay focused in completion of their project tasks.

● Managed multiple design projects simultaneously by maintaining project schedule, monitoring project progress, co-coordinating the team activities, calculating the time requirements, sequencing the project elements and resolving the problems.

Designed assembly fixtures, radiator tanks, air fins, turbulator fins, sealing gaskets, bars, extruded channels for the various types of heat exchangers using Pro-E, generated their drawings and BOM using AutoCAD 2008.
