After becoming a Systems Engineer in all three IBM mainframe operating systems, I can say

that I am able to learn any software easily and while I am studying LAMP programming and

administration, I am willing to come in and learn, install, customize and support any

software no matter how obscure. I am passionate and enthusiastic about new technology.

I also have always had a focus on procedures and/or software efficiency thereby saving

time, resources, effort and money. This along with a strong work ethic has made me

likable, referred to as smart and trustworthy by my managers as well as co-workers and

clients.

access to about 44 Production *nix servers. Most of the work was done on a Windows Server

Java based GUI front end. Received a company award for helping out with a Unix Server

System Conversion.

After several years, and several Infrastructure Managers, one wanted us to bring in and

run several Linux IFLs on the new mainframe we installed which was a z/890. We also

brought in z/VM to manage the Linux environments and I installed and customized z/VM in

preparation for installing SUSE 10. Infrastructure Manager changed again as did the CIO

and I attended a conference focusing on Linux Labs. Shortly thereafter, management made

the decision to get rid of the mainframe. The Linux project was cancelled and the

mainframe group was assigned the task of helping to transfer our software to client server

platforms. We were told the mainframe group was going to be eliminated. We completed the

project within just about a year.

This was the part of AIB that broke off and became its own company. I had developed great

working relationships with most of the staff. A new DBA was hired. I was asked to bring

her skills up to that of handling Systems Programming as well as her Database

responsibilities. I continued to work here in order to support the DBA ensuring Y2K

compliance after leaving AIB. I wanted the challenge of performing Y2K testing.

Studied, learned and attended several WAVV and IBM Technical Conferences. Using the VSE

listserv, I posted the problems and received answers the same day from people who had the

same experience thereby saving the company plenty of resources and money. As SAS

consultant and SAS Site Administrator, moved a dataset from a VM share file system onto a

flat file which resulted in the job completing in 30 minutes rather than it hours. I

accepted a new opportunity and left AIB in October of 1999.

new employee, I talked the Project Manager Consultant and Systems Programming personnel in

letting me work with SAG in order to restore a very important but broken production

database working with the vendor in order to get this accomplished. It was very successful

and I received accolades from all involved for being a novice and yet getting something so

important done all the while saving a very large amount of database updates. Just over a

year, and due to company separations, there was an opening for a Systems Programmer and I

was promoted with some internal training plus help from a part time consulting company.

Honors and Awards:

I received a Tufts Health Plan award for participating in a UNIX conversion. Attended an

MFS luncheon at the Palms for working on an accidental computer room power outage without

a working UPS. I was taken to dinner with management and associates at WCRIB after

successfully upgrading software for the Year 2000 issue. I was taken to lunch at AIB, for

finding a hardware problem when the consultants tried and failed. I fixed a broken

database as new Assistant DBA with the help of the vendor when management was planning on

restoring it. Congratulations from Management at Natick Labs for setting up the laser

printer so that it did not have to be brought up and down for software upgrades. Also at

Natick Labs, used a piece of MVS backup software to make VM backups run 3 to 4 times

faster. While employed by Boston University was promoted 5 times in 12 years.
