Background:
Jim McGuffey, CPP, PSP, PCI has 35 years of diverse leadership experience in security
serving 3 years in the military, 8 years in law enforcement and 26 years in private
security in an executive role. He is now a security consultant and has been retained in
litigation involving armored car truck crashes, embezzlement, death while-in-custody
cases, workplace violence and other security matters. During his career, Jim conducted
numerous security risk assessments and implemented cost effective security strategies to
protect assets and increase profits.
On Mar.6, 2012 Jim appeared on Headline News regarding a security matter and he is often
called by news reporters on security incidents. On Feb. 24, 2012 Jim testified at IBT
Headquarters in D.C. on worker s rights violations held by UNI s Swedish Commission of
Inquiry.
Jim worked for two of the world s largest security companies where he was responsible for
the safety and security of several thousand security officers and other employees,
numerous high risk facilities and a large fleet of trucks.
Jim earned a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice and M.A. in Management and I have served as
an Adjunct Professor teaching security courses. He has been a member of ASIS,
International since 1981. As of Dec 2011. As of December 2011, he was one of 57 security
professionals in the world to hold all three ASIS International Board Certifications in

Certifications:
Jim is board certified in Security Management and Physical Security. Throughout the
world, the Certified Protection Professional (CPPr) designation is acknowledged as the
security profession s highest recognition of practitioners. The CPP, PCI and PSP
certifications are awarded based upon experience, education, and of an examination that
provides an objective measure of an individual s broad-based knowledge and competency in
security management, physical security and the investigation process. Ongoing professional
development is required in order to maintain each credential. Jim is one of 57 security
practitioners in the world who hold all three of these prestigious ASIS International
board certifications in security.
The CPPr PSPr and PCIr are administered by ASIS International, the preeminent
international organization for security professionals, with more than 35,000 members
worldwide which Jim has been an active member since 1981.
Certified Protection Professional (CPPr) This certification designates individuals who
have demonstrated competency in all areas constituting security management.
Physical Security Professional (PSPr) The PSPr designation is the certification for
those whose primary responsibility is to conduct threat surveys, design integrated
security systems that include equipment, procedures and people, or install, operate and
maintain those systems.
Professional Certified Investigator (PCIr) Holders of the PCIr certification have
demonstrated education and/or experience in the fields of case management, evidence
collection, and case presentation.

church leadership roles as well as in leadership and volunteer roles in prison ministry,
drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness and in preventing abuse against women. He has been
married to the same loving wife and they have been blessed with two great sons, four
precious granddaughters and their wonderful mothers.
