Indigo Books & Music – Intermediate Business Analyst – February 2005 to May 2011Create detailed business requirement documents. Added functional requirements to BRDs when a functional analyst was not available. This involved digging into SD and MM modules to recommend functional / configuration changes that were required.Gathered cross-functional / cross-department requirements while conducting interviews and JAD sessions. SAP Retail Store 2.0Large update & enhancement of the retail store GUI to SAP.Enhancement to Product Receiving, Product Lookup, Product Movement & Order Information, creation of the Reportal – a one-stop location for all retail reports.Created the requirements for the project.Managed QA, UAT and roll-out to all stores.Created a functional demo of all applicable areas to assist developers and business users: seeing the ask gave us a far different result that simply writing it down and creating wireframes.
Pallet Level ReceivingAbility for a store to receiving product at the pallet / skid level, instead of having to receiving each carton individually.Created the requirements for the project.Created a functional demo to assist architect, developers, qa analysts and business users visualize the process and logical flow of the retail user experience.
ISBN13book industry moved from a 10-digit isbn to a 13-digit isbn.Reviewed all retail code to determine where a 13-digit isbn would impact store reporting, receiving and returns.Created a ISBN converter to allow business users to input a ISBN and convert it from 10 digits to 13 digits.
Task ManagementRetail stores are constantly inundated with emails from various departments.There was a need to have some kind of task tracking tool to track that estimated labour a store would need.Created a functional demo using php/mysql to show that a tool didn’t have to be high-cost (some vendors were charging between $300k-$500k for set up and install).Low-cost vendor identified to meet current company technological platforms (no support for php/mysql).Created the requirements and wireframes as well as referenced my functional demo for documentation.
Receipt MarketingGathered and analysed business requirements for the project.Entailed printing a message on a receipt.Included an option to print a coupon after the receipt.Also includes the ability to target a customer by customer type, customer basket composition.Can track nth transaction at the till level for promotion discounts (500th customer, etc).Organized UAT with business owners.Assisted in setting goals for roll-out and pilot.Direct contact with the POS vendor (PCMS) to address code delivery issues.
