OBJECTIVE
A position with a company that will enable me to apply my 20 years of experience managing NEW PRODUCT development projects.
SUMMARY
Mechanical engineer with progressively responsible EXPERIENCE in design and manufacturing (new product development, special purpose machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, sheet metal fabrication) as well as user friendly software applications (Database programs, CAD/CAM systems, NC programming).
STRENGTHS
Outstanding track record in project management
Highly motivated and goal-oriented
Excellent computer programming skills
Very knowledgeable and well organized designer
Extreme accuracy under pressure
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
DESIGN ENGINEERING
Developed 300 new products, over 12 months, supplied as ergonomic solutions for the office environment, including pneumatically activated, height adjustable workstations (one of the best on the market) and monitor arms
Introduced, for the first time in Canada, a new line of computer accessories (keyboard platforms, wrist rests, monitor risers, slant boards) using the completely new materials such as high impact plastic laminate and "memory" foam; achieved top quality and reasonable costs by streamlining the manufacturing process
Designed, launched the prototype fabrication, tested, documented and certified a new series of hydraulic oil buffers; record time of CSA and ULC certification across the industry
Redesigned and introduced a new line of car cab signal and control fixtures using a modular, interchangeable concept; doubled the custom production capacity
Designed and implemented a formed steel sling and platform to replace the structural steel design generating savings of more than $2,000 per unit in material, labor, quality and performance
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Developed a database program capable of producing complete engineering output (shipping documents, bill of materials, material cutting lists, NC programs) required to manufacture and expedite customized cab enclosures; the drafting process was entirely bypassed by referencing a set of relational generic drawings and all necessary information was supplied directly into the controller of the NC machining center; average engineering time and cost per unit decreased from 2 days @ $20/hour (qualified designer) to 2 hours @ $12/hour (skilled clerk)
Managed all phases of an estimating project (in collaboration with outside contractors); designed to provide quotations, order acknowledgments or contract specifications transferred into the above mentioned scheduling module; when fully implemented, the system was able to respond to the customer demand twice as fast and
accurate as the manual system
Created and maintained a computerized production schedule, which became a major tool for management planning and forecasting; dramatic increase in speed of communication via network
Recommended, installed and implemented a CAD/CAM system for parametric design with a customized post processor; developed to generate assembly and detail drawings and to convert the data into suitable NC code; first step in office automation: reduced processing time by 70 %
QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA)
Implemented ISO 9002 Quality Management System; obtained certification and successfully conducted audits
