Professional Experience
March 1990 to September 2011 – AECL, 2251 Speakman Drive, Mississauga, Ontario
June 2006 to September 2011 – Licensing & Safety Engineering
Senior Safety & Licensing Engineer – performed engineering assessments on ACR-1000 and Enhanced CANDU 6 safety design with respect to compliance of the Canadian, US, UK and international safety standards and requirements for plant operation. Supported the safety and licensing team to interface with the regulatory, design team and customers. Planned new-build schedule with assessments in terms of site selection, environmental assessment, safety report submission, construction, and commissioning.
January 2001 to June 2006 - ACR Safety & Licensing / Functional Department
Senior Safety Analyst – CATHENA model development for the ACR-700 and ACR- 1000, safety analyses and design assist. Being a Chapter 15 holder of the DCD for the US licensing. Performed various thermalhydraulics analyses for the CANDU safety report for licensing submissions. The safety analyses included LOCA thermalhydraulics, trip coverage, moderator analysis, containment analysis and severe accident analysis.
Containment Lead Engineer - Performed various containment safety analyses and prepared safety reports. Being the code holder/champion for various computer codes for technical supports. Developed/written the AECL safety code SGDOSE according to the company procedures.
April 1992 to January 2001 - CANDU 9 Safety & Licensing / CANDU Reactor Services
Senior Safety Analyst – performed various safety analyses, such as large LOCA, CATHENA Slave Channel models for trip coverage, containment & dose dispersion, loss of secondary circuit pressure control, pressure tube integrity during a large LOCA, PT/CT rupture, feeder break, design assist for feeder sizing, SDS1 depth uncertainty analysis, and critical channel power.
August 1991 to April 1992 - Attachment to AECL Research, Whiteshell, Manitoba
Simulated the accident events for the MAPLE-X10 reactor with CATHENA. Prepared safety reports.
March 1990 - July 1991 – Safety, Licensing and Process Engineering
Safety Analyst – performed state-of-the-art 3D analysis for CANDU Moderator Circulation under accident conditions using the PHOENICS computer code and validation of the model against experimental results.
