OBJECTIVE: A program or technical management position developing and producing system products in a dynamic environment. Looking for a team-oriented approach in a growing organization dedicated to innovative solutions to customer problems.

EXPERIENCE:

August 1992 to Present: Raytheon E-Systems, Garland, TX

Principal Engineer - Project engineer / deputy program manager developing and producing state of the art broadband RF, microwave and millimeter wave remote sensing system. Responsible for all technical aspects of electrical, mechanical and software design. Duties included performing system architecture design, generating project budget allocations and schedule coordination between various project functional areas. Performed detailed systems engineering analyses of hardware and software performance to insure solutions complied with customer requirements. Also reviewed hardware designs for design-for-testability criteria in production. Provided primary customer technical point of contact for resolving requirements and system design issues. Coordinated and directed hardware electrical, mechanical and software design activities of deliverable and support equipment through development and production phases, including requirements allocation to the lowest levels in the system. System hardware included a broadband RF Electronic Intelligence receiver, signal detection and qualification hardware and software, with measurement results reported via ATM OC-3 interface to the host system. System hardware items included high-density RF packaging and open architecture VME implementations. Generated embedded software requirements, reviewed and monitored object oriented design activities.

Systems engineering manager for the SHF SATCOM Terminal pursuit. Duties included defining hardware and software requirements for state of the art VME modem and VME down converter for the terminal radio. The terminal provided Single Channel per Carrier (SPC) mode and TDMA mode for Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) operation. Radio was specified to duplicate existing fielded capability. Frequency tuning capability of the modem and associated frequency converters also gives the terminal an FDMA operational mode. Up and down converters utilized a dual conversion approach with fast settling multi-loop synthesizers for excellent spurious performance. Also provided key customer technical contact to resolve system and hardware requirement issues such as link margins, frequency planning, frame structure, chassis mechanical and electrical issues, and RF converter and modem functionality and performance requirements. Defined hardware and software test configurations for customer demonstrations as part of the proposal evaluation.

* Responsible for system analyses, and direction of RF, Digital, and Software system elements

* Provided system solutions using TDMA, CDMA and FDMA techniques utilizing many different modulation formats and coding schemes

* Utilized software driven designs using programmable hardware that yield flexible and adaptable hardware designs

* Co-developed a highly efficient adaptable TDMA waveform for SHF data transfer

* Developed and proved custom system analysis tools

April 1989 - July 1992 - Hughes Aircraft, Aurora, CO

Senior Staff Engineer - Project engineer directing systems and design engineering activities for the development of Satellite Support Hardware for commercial SATCOM applications. Commercial hardware developments consisted of ground station equipment for satellite TT&C; In Orbit Test Equipment and Satellite Test Equipment for performance verification and control. Government hardware developments included training, simulation and Satellite Test Equipment. Responsibilities involved review and analyses of customer requirements to subsystem and unit levels, and review of the resulting hardware design for conformance to requirements. Specific hardware designs accomplished during this time included a high performance receiver design with exceptional amplitude (

* Completed all projects under budget and on schedule as chief systems engineer/deputy program manager

* Designed an innovative test switch matrix to allow simultaneous testing of satellite transponders. Design was implemented as conceived by Hewlett Packard, and is featured in their catalog

* Developed detailed analysis tool to predict performance of a large system based on component catalog data. Analysis uses statistical distribution of component performance to accurately predict broadband performance.

Adjunct Professor - Instructor at the University of Colorado at Denver, conducting undergraduate Electrical Engineering classes.

April 1979 - April 1989 - Texas Instruments, Lewisville, TX

Systems Engineer - Performed detailed systems analyses of state of the art electronic warfare (EW) system. Specific analyses included system sensitivity; signal resolution; dynamic range and local oscillator phase noise. Duties also include analyses of component specifications to ensure system compliance; review of vendor specification and component data for system level compliance; and review of test methodology to insure test accuracy and compliance with test requirements.

Lead Design Engineer - Performed the conceptual design, implementation, documentation and design verification testing of multi-octave Microwave and RF circuits covering baseband to 18 GHz. Also responsible for the video signal processing and digital control circuitry associated with the RF and IF hardware. Additional duties included supervision of engineering and technical personnel, cost management, budgeting and participation in numerous proposal efforts.

Lead Product Engineer - Oversight of production of all Microwave and RF assemblies covering the 100 MHz to 18 GHz band, as well as some video and digital hardware. Associated duties include supervision of engineering personnel in the resolution of design and performance problems, component and subassembly specifications, testing methods and procedures to maximize yields for high volume production.

RF/IF Design Engineer - Designed the RF and IF circuitry for broadband passive homing systems covering the 100 MHz to 40 GHz band. Emphasis on conceptual design and verification of design parameters through hardware test activities. Additional duties included system integration and system testing.

* Gained in depth knowledge of amplitude, monopulse and phase interferometer receiving systems

* Took designs from concept through high volume production (100 assemblies per month)

* Completed several state of the art designs of broadband receiving systems for production under severe budget and schedule constraints

* Proficient with several RF CAD systems including SPICE, Touchstone, Compact and Super Compact
