EXPERIENCE: Keystone Steel and Wire - Rod Mill Bartonville, IL 03/29/2010 to Present
Metallurgic Technician- Take and test samples from each heat produced in the rod
mill, take size checks, and electronically record results to ensure the proper quality of
product is shipped to the customer. Interact with Rod Mill Roller, Finisher, Assistant
Finisher, as well as Rod Mill Forman, to ensure that any type of defect in production
is resolved efficiently as to reduce the number of downgraded or scrap coils.
Currently assisting the Quality Superintendent in resolving customer complaints and
collecting data for in house trials. This includes preparation of samples, macro and
micro observation, mechanical testing, and chemical testing. Working with the quality
managers to investigate the cause of the customer’s complaint to ensure the
customer’s concerns are identified and resolved.
Conveyor- Ensure the delivery of rod coils from conveyor to inspection/packaging
area of mill. .Operate control panel for conveyor and tub irises. Assist in changing
finishing rolls and guides.
Coil Tran Operator (CTO) – Maintain three control panels that direct functions for an
extensive hook-line/elevator delivery system in addition to two separate rotating
mandrels that facilitate the delivery to the inspection and packing stations once rod
coils drop from the conveyor
Trimmer – Operate a hydraulic alligator cutter to trim the defects from the back end
of each coil while maintaining a steady production flow
Rod Inspector – Responsible for inspecting each coil for quality defects and size
specifications in accordance with customer requirements. Document each size check
as well as any coil that does not meet the minimum requirement. Final employee
responsible to ensure that the product leaving the mill is the highest quality possible.
Compactor Operator- Operate the control panel for machine that compacts each
coil and ties it to ensure proper packaging. Print tags and apply tags to each coil.
Tag information includes the grade, quality, and heat number of each coil so proper
identification and delivery is maintained.
Semi/Crane Operator – Operate flatbed semi -tractor trailer to transport packaged
coils from the mill to the storage facility within the plant. Operate overhead crane to
load rail cars for transportation.
Relief Equipment Operator – relieve each equipment operators for scheduled
breaks
Mill Labor- performed any tasked required by mill foreman. Include cleaning steel
scale from all equipment and walkways, shovel any scale, grease, and dirt from
various pits around the mill, operate fork truck to move equipment and material to
assigned areas.
Utility Driver – Operate fork truck in an confined environment to deliver materials to
machine operators and transport finished product to shipping area in a efficient
manner.
