San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station

(2) Pressurized Water Reactors, Electrical Generation 2,200Mw

Nuclear Training Specialist III, (San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station)

Designed and presented training for the Non-licensed Operators at San Onofre. Developed the procedure

and operated a pressurized (40’ X 20’) flow loop simulator, which allowed for Operator skill training in a

non-plant environment.

• Analyzed operator performance in DLA’s and field performance and trended the weaknesses.

• Developed an industry leading matrix to measure individual operator performance competencies.

• Designed an Individual Competency database to identify trends and individual focus areas.

• Implemented a training program which decreased Plant Status Control errors by >50% in 6 months.

• Provided all Health Physics operator training and licensee question submissions.

• Recognized as best instructor for incorporation of Human Performance tools and Operator

Fundamentals into lesson plans, classroom and laboratory environments.

Nuclear Training Specialist II, (2006-2008)

Prepared and presented lesson plans for all non-licensed operators. Utilized SAT process (ADDIE) for

accredited training program. Participated as a player and controller in site wide emergency drills; and

filled the role as an Operator, HP Technician and for EOF positions.

• Taught all HP related non-licensed Operator classes and provide input on RO/SRO level exams

with regard to the exam bank content.

• Developed first Dynamic Learning Activity for San Onofre.

• Certified NTD Training Instructor qualified OJT and TPE.

Operations U2/3, Power Plant Operator (2002-2006)

Qualified all Primary and Secondary watch stations for the Pressurized Water Reactors at San Onofre.

Qualified all primary and makeup water watch stations, and was OJT / TPE qualified.

• First management selected Crew Mentor due to exemplary performance and plant knowledge.

• Acted as mentor to help new operators in getting qualified.

Health Physics Technician, (1993-2003)

Qualified all senior health physics technician position in less than one year. Qualified advanced Job

Coverage to include RCP, Generator/Platform and Refuel Coverage.

• Passed the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists exam. Cert #13906

• Served as Control Point Supervisor for over two years during two Refuel Outages.

• Developed the HP Website with live ALARA dose updates, which was a noted INPO strength.

• Supervised the Multi-Purpose facility for decon and storage of highly radioactive waste for 2 years.

• Presented annual training for the department as a Certified Instructor.

Operations U1, Power Plant Operator (1991-1993)

Qualified all Secondary watch stations for the Unit 1 PWR at San Onofre.

• Passed the NRC Generic Fundamentals Exam.
