Designed new process for reporting total time for merchandise from entering the dock to

shipment to stores. This new process helped management identify lags in the process as

t his extra time was making the company lose money by holding inventory longer then

needed. Net effect of cost reduction of 20%.

Implemented the gold receiving system. This project was to ensure that all receiving of

Gold products is done in accordance to the Gold rate of when the invoice was cut rather

t hen when the PO was cut. Added alerts when the calculations did not meet the required

t hreshold. Resulted in slashing costs up to 30% specially during the gold f luctuation

t imes.

Proactively, wrote a lot of new processes to prevent failures such as:

Process to check the size available in some important directories ($outbound/

$inbound) and if the size is not enough, the primary point of contact will be paged to

t ake some actions and add more space before starting the load process.

Process to scan Oracle Instance Alerts on ORA-00600 which is an internal Oracle

p rocess failure and page the primary DBA when it occurred to fix the problem before the

i nstance shutdown.

Project Manager, reporting to Sr. VP of planning, successfully implemented the

$1.3 M il l ion upgrade for the Arthur Planning System on time and on budget.

Reported project’s progress to the Executive Steering committee on monthly

b asis. Very highly visible project as it related to the Merchandise and Financial

p lanning of the company.

Implemented on time and budget and was awarded ROCK STARZ award.

Upgrade included moving from ESSBASE and Windows NT system (a 2 tier architecture)

to ORACLE, Unix, and Windows NT system (a 3 tier architecture).

Kept the management up to date on the progress of the project via weekly status reports.

Managed JDA (Arthur Software’s vendor) resources while at Zale Corporation.

Took lead role as a main technical resource (expert) on the project.

Wrote lots of new procedures in PL/SQL to improve the t iming of the data loads. Reduce

PROJECT: Oracle Database and Oracle Developer upgrade for Retek

Converted all the RETEK forms and reports to the new version of Developer 2000 and

tested them. Also made sure that all the problems related to this are fixed and tested.

Assisted the DBA with database issues including importing the data from the existing

database (7.3.2 ) and importing the data into the new database (8.1.6).

Worked with the DBA in resolving the tuning issues with some scripts. Were able to gain

90% efficiency in some of the scripts i.e. before the upgrade the same script was taking 8

h rs to run and after the upgrade the script was running in 45 to 60 minutes. This was a

result of coming up with the strategy to create partitions on the tables (big ones) and also

r unning explain plans on the scripts to make sure the correct indexes are being utilized

Developed robust PL/SQL packages to enhance report development, interfaces, and to

reduce code redundancy.

Migrated Data using SQL* Loader

systems into current systems. The analysis involved not only integration requirements

but also multi currency issues.

Responsible for writing systems requirement documentation. Also developed Oracle

Forms screens for very complex procedures and tested them.

Created test cases for various process which included SKU Setup, Purchase Order setup,

P ricing.

Responsibility: Support analyst for Retek System

Responsible for providing maintenance and support for Retek system.
