human network manager will find it hard to maintain a sufficient level of expertise on a particular

network’s behavior. Fault management research has covered approaches such as expert systems, finite

state machines, advanced database techniques, and probabilistic methods. Intelligent agent is one that

processes information collected by Simple Network Management Protocol agents and uses it to detect

the network anomalies that typically precede a fault. It can detect unknown faults and correlate

information in space and time also to detect the failure in one of the sub network’s components even

before it can be occur.
