Education/Licensing

Work Experience

• Employed by HNTB as a Municipal Engineer in San Antonio, Texas. Employed by HNTB as a as a water resources engineer in Plano, Texas prior to work in San Antonio (started 2/10, end 2/13). Duties included assisting coworkers in a team environment performing pre-award work on design build projects. This work involved hydrological analysis and hydraulic design and analysis of various storm drain systems and culverts. Other work involved 3D computer model development of proposed and existing drainage infrastructure and various utilities and how it impacted other portions of the 3D model that were created based off a set of 2D construction plans. Involved with Project Coordinating work with the 2008 Texas Hurricane Disaster Recovery Program. Duties in the program included review of engineering design bid packages from program engineering providers and coordination with grantees to facilitate project delivery with the client, Texas General Land Office.

• Employed by Stanley Consultants as an engineer intern and a civil engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada (from 11/05 through 01/09). Worked as a licensed engineer from 07/06 through 01/09. Responsible for drainage studies for commercial and residential land development projects. Worked out of Stanley’s Phoenix office for six weeks assembling a drainage study for three miles of improvements to US 191 involving approximately 40 cross culverts. Worked out of Stanley’s Salt Lake City office for six months on a design build project. Work in Salt Lake City involved the design for the partial relocation of three irrigation systems to accommodate the widening of a state trunk line. Gained experience with Clark County Regional Transportion Commission and Nevada Department of Trans. design standards in lieu of coordinating drainage design tasks with roadway design task teams. Also gained experience with various drafting applications including: Microstation, InRoads, AutoCAD LDD and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Work done compiling drainage studies involved the use of the following hydraulic and hydrologic programs: HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-RAS 4.0, HEC-HMS, WSPG, HY-8, Flowmaster and Culvert Master. Other work duties included construction observer and gathering as-built information.

Work Experience (continued)

• Employed by Stantec Consulting as an engineer intern in Las Vegas, Nevada (from 03/04 through 11/05). Responsible for hydraulic and hydrologic analyses for offsite and onsite drainage improvements. Assisted with Conditional Letter of Map Revisions (CLOMR) for FEMA floodplain relocations. Also involved with work for drainage studies for various land development projects.

• Research associate at University of Wisconsin at Madison. Purpose was to further develop research work that was already done to meet M.S. degree requirements (from 9/03 through 10/03). This work involved using the finite element solver FLUENT to simulate the effects of a submerged vane in a natural stream to demonstrate the vane’s effectiveness in preventing cut bank erosion.

• Worked at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a limited time employee for 11 months. Work included determining design flow rates for stream crossing structures and the size and preliminary layout of those structures.

• Employed by Abonmarche Consultants Inc. in Benton Harbor, Michigan for 2 years as an EIT (EIT exam was taken in April of 1999). Duties included: structural design verification; subdivision drainage design, permit acquisition and roadway grading; construction technician, administration and inspection; watermain, storm and sanitary sewer design (public works and commercial); commercial parking lot layout and drainage design; and roadway design.

• Worked at the Michigan Department of Transportation in a summer-fall co-op as a construction technician/inspector for 5 months. Most work was with roadway reconstruction, construction and maintenance.
