PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Sierra Microwave Technology, Georgetown, TX March 2011 – Present
Structural, Thermal and Finite Element Analysis Engineer
• Worked in the Advanced Engineering and Technology Division performing Structural, Modal and Random Analysis under 131G and a base acceleration of 48.8Grms on Isolators, Circulator, Diplexer, Filters, Load, Drop-in (Isolators and Circulator), Hybrid Test Coupler, Soil Moisture Active Passive - Mapping soil moisture and freeze components for various customers, including JPL, Lockheed Martin, Space System Loral, Boeing and Mitsubishi.
• Perform Thermal Stress hand calculation to determine Solder’s compliance in Operational Condition.
• Performed complex 3D transient and steady-state thermal analysis.
• Mapped results from heritage runs at a specific time points onto a 3D model, including thermal runs on Isolators, Circulator, Diplexer, Filters, Load, Drop-in (Isolators and Circulator), Hybrid Test Coupler, SMAP CLA (Soil Moisture Active Passive - Mapping soil moisture and freeze for JPL) components for the customers.
• Utilized Inventor 2013 to determine proper 3D Model to be imported to ANSYS for finite element analysis and extensively prepared models for optimum meshing to minimize errors in the model and obtain accurate results.
• Divided complex models into smaller volumes to achieve hex dominated meshes required by the customer’s processes.
Belcan Corporation, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Cincinnati, OH February 2008 – March 2011
Structural and Finite Element Analysis Engineer
• Worked in the Advanced Engineering and Technology Division performing structural analysis on turbine components for various customers, including General Electric, Pratt Whitney and Rolls Royce.
• Solved complex 3D buckling analysis on a jet combustion chamber involving contacts and coated composite materials accounting anisotropic material properties.
• Determined stresses for a rotating turbine disk and blade using a 2D model with thickness properties.
• Mapped transient thermal analysis results onto a 3D model and swept about an axis for quasi axi-symmetric models for steady-state thermal analyses to be performed and incorporated results into structural models to obtain stress data from thermal gradients as well as from structural boundary conditions.
• Utilized Unigraphics NX6 to determine components’ masse, including their location to prepare models for finite element analysis by dividing complex turbine engine models into subparts to achieve optimum hex dominated meshes required by customer processes to minimized results’ error analysis.
Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL June 2007 – December 2007
Mechanical Engineer
• Programmed a robotic arm enabling it to execute a variety of tasks including picking up objects, placing them in a container, harvesting plants, fruits, and vegetables with a pressure sensor that adjusted accordingly avoiding damage to the object being handled.
• Collaborated on projects with researchers finding root cause for data variations.
• Determined payloads for the design Global Positioning Systems for trajectory calculations.
