PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Johns Manville (A Berkshire Hathaway Company) Fort Worth, TX 10/2011 to
present- Project Engineer
Project Engineer Duties:
Pick projects from project deck & create Business case, scope of work,
justification, retrieve quotes, design system/machine with manufacturer,
project QUAD presentation, project time lines, gantt chart, project
finances break downs, WBS element creations, resource planning, maintenance
& installation time lines, lean/six sigma application to justify project
productivity etc.
Projects:
. Glass Delivery System: Working on a critical issue of glass delivery
in fiber forming assembly line. Due to the change of raw material
(from glass marbles to glass pieces) plant is facing issue of glass
dust & chips, which creates issue conveying glass raw material through
the assembly line. I am working on replacing current bucket elevator
system with drag conveyor chain disc system, which will carry the
material with care and eventually will result in reduction of scrap &
process loss. (Budget $0.5M)
. SCM Furnace Installation: I am working along with corporate
engineering group on SCM (Submerged Combustion Melter oxy-gas fired)
furnace installation at our facility. This is one of its kind glass-
melting furnace and we are one of the few companies that are running
this furnace in the nation. Currently we have HERM type & E-Glass type
traditional furnaces at our plant. I am working on marble forming and
conveying, Marble packaging and waste glass collection areas in
particular. (Budget $ 19M)
. I am also working on several in plant local projects identified by
process; production & maintenance group which budgets anywhere from
$50K to $750K.
. Working at plant and manufacturing environment I got certified in
several ESH practices. To name a few Elec. Arc Flash protection, Fire
Extinguisher, Fire protection, Stack Smoke intensity reading etc.
. Energy Co-coordinator for the entire facility which includes
forecasting energy usage, analyze energy usage, with help of corporate
engineering group set targets for energy usage and conduct team
meetings.
Thermacor Process L.P. Fort Worth, TX 06/2008 to 09/2011-
Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer
. Manufacturing Engineering Duties:
o Spooling and designing the underground and aboveground piping with
maximum productivity.
o Checking the stress intensity & heat loss and heat gain in Hot
water/Steam and Chill water/Condensate systems, calculate the
expansion of carrier pipe due to temperature
o Material Take Offs
o Create detailed pipe installation drawings using AutoCAD along with
drafting department in most productive way so customer/contractor will
have hassle free pipe installations.
. Industrial Engineering Duties
o Lean/Six Sigma projects across the plant which includes Plant Layout,
Process Improvement, Value Engineering, Time Study, 5S + Safety etc.
o Keep all the process charts and guidelines documentation updated for
all the production processes across the plant.
o Material Requirement Planning for all the engineering projects.
Release BOM for all the engineering jobs using ERP software.
o Plant engineering Projects, New equipment costing and installation
analysis using OEE and TEEP concepts
. Projects:
o In recent times Thermacor was facing a huge issue of time and labor
consumption of each product across the plant. I worked on finding the
real cause of the issue using RCA (Root Cause Analysis) method and
with the team of technicians we worked on mapping the flow of process
of each product, collecting large sets of data that and gathering
proofs of the causes. After finding few bottle necks and main causes,
with the use of Value Streaming/Mapping I worked on laying that
material flow in flow diagram with the use of machine footprints to
achieve the optimum path of product travel. As result the total
product travelling time decreased about 55%, which eventually resulted
in faster production and money saver.
o Finished a time study project for the entire plant operations. In
which I was taking time of each product for each operation through the
plant and trying to obtain the total time taken at each station and
total distance travelled by each product through different stations.
This exercise resulted in to productivity improvement while 20-25%
money saving in labor hours. Also, worked on 8 wastes and 5S + Safety
concepts with plant manager.
o Worked on determining the linear speed of the foam forming system to
improve the productivity of the plant, with the use of the extruder
output, HDPE sheet thickness, melt temperature and the foam
thicknesses for different products across the plant. This action
resulted in to yearly material saving in HDPE pallets and also
improved jacket thicknesses by producing consistently uniform jackets.
Poly America L.P., Grand Prairie, TX, 10/2007 to 06/2008- Corporate Process
Engineering Technician
. Main Job duties:
o Standardizing process parameters across the plant leading to better
quality, faster production and process consistency with total
improvement in final product.
o Updating of older equipment with newer and innovative technology
helping to sustain newer challenges of variety of products with
continuous improvement in quality.
o Together with plant manager and process engineer working on main
downtime causes, TPM, and productivity improvement.
. Projects:
o Successfully worked on quality & productivity improvement in HDPE
section of the plant. In which we use sensor technology to control the
Air Ring (Air Blowing Unit) with PLC parameter (P, I & D) tunings.
The implementation of this project helped company to get remarkably
good quality of plastic with long-term consistency in processing.
o Worked on Downtime Analysis of the product lines throughout the plant
with the use of pivot tables (MS excel), which is very useful to list
the top problems and possible reasons.
Texas Instruments Inc, Dallas, TX, 02/2006 to 09/2007- Manufacturing
Specialist (CMP/IMP)
o Continuous quality check of the total automatic polishing tools,
timely maintains the polishing equipment, effective scheduling of
different products in CMP/Implant area and getting certification on
different chip making processes. I have been part or 5S team and
Equipment Engineering Tech team.
