board to C,C++ and VB HP-IB, serial and USB instrument control for
Spectrum, Network analyzers, RF signal generators, signal analyzers and
power meters on handheld devices and final products.
. Lead the design and implementation of flexible systems using custom
pneumatic subsystems integrated into the automated test systems around
embedded microcontrollers with custom C program applications to perform
QUICK SETUP to simplify configuration change management achieving a 30%
reduction of cycle time and eliminating product differentiation issues,
a 15% capacity increase, a 25% reduction of fixture count and
maintenance work requests..
. Built relations with local universities and student advisors and their
test labs to hire the best prospects and developed them into our
company's best test engineers and promoted them to lead other
engineering groups within the organization.
. Managed external contractors and machine shops for the construction of
a high variety of assorted manual, semi-automatic and automatic test
equipment and fixtures for control boards, switching/linear power
supplies, harness and AC/DC motor testers in support to the deployment
of new product introductions.
. Managed the software development and bed of nails fixtures for single
and multi dwell MDA and HP3070 In-circuit test equipment to support the
deployment of new product introduction.
. Redesigned a labor intensive harness assembly line into a fully
automated set of smart test/assembly stations capable of detecting and
alerting on quality issues at the assembly operation taking a poke yoke
approach to eliminate further quality gates and ZERO defects, ZERO
rework, 90% reduction of scrap and 60 % throughput increase. 80 % cost
reduction of new product introductions.
TEST MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR Chamberlain manufacturing facility
1997 - 2000
Planned the department budget and activities of test laboratory including
system maintenance, equipment calibration and work area organization with
an structure of 3 engineers and 17 technicians responsible for both
preventive and corrective maintenance, In house Calibration and production
support on both functional and ICT test at subassembly and final assembly
levels on three shift. Conduct periodic performance appraisals.
. Obtained sponsorship and got approval for $250K+ of capital funds to
replace manual test equipment with Spectrum analyzers and created
catalog of parameters for the various transmitters in order to avoid
confusion and quality problems ensuring all products tuned to spec
rising fist pass quality levels to 99% .
. Lead and contributed to the development and deployment of 32 universal
test fixtures for the end of line test systems to resolve
reconfiguration needs for quick change with a resulting savings of 20
min/station/change and a 15% capacity increase, eliminating 25% of
