Professional Experience
HEALTH & SAFETY ADVISOR, 2010 - Present
British Petroleum (BP) America - Houston & Amarillo, Texas
Work within H&S functions to support BP North America Gas (NAG) operations
in the Anadarko Asset. Responsible for assisting in identifying hazardous
workplace conditions and coordinating corrective measures. Assist in
training employees on safety, company policies and procedures and
regulations pertaining to employee safety. Help ensure compliance with
Local, State and Federal health and safety regulations, and ensure that
proper records are prepared and maintained.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to field personnel on how to properly
identify, investigate, address and mitigate issues related to HS&S.
This includes the Leadership Team, operations personnel, and
contingent workers, and covers 4 field offices, over 100 employees,
and 10,000 square miles.
- Conduct and coordinate HSS assurance audits, and communicate lessons
learned, best practices, and improvement opportunities.
- Aid in identifying risks and applying reduction techniques to reduce
work related risk exposure to a level as low as practical.
- Assists with the updating, re-writing and implementation of site
specific and NAG practices and procedures.
- Provide Incident Management Support. Ensure OSHA record keeping is
current and incidents are accurately classified and recorded.
Facilitate incident investigations utilizing the CLC Root Cause
process. Coordinate incident management plan which includes
implementation, training, response, and liaison with local first
responders.
- Provide oversight of the Contractor Management program. Work and
interact with contract companies on case management issues, incident
investigation, BP practices and policies.
INTERN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST, 2009 - Present

Daily activities include field identification, sampling, and evaluation,
including logging and collection of samples and performing ASTM Standard
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Activities conducted at multiple
sites and for a variety of private and public sector clients. Duties
include: assisting project managers with office and field tasks, analysis
and reporting of results, health and safety compliance, and report
preparation, demonstrating good verbal and writing skills, and using the
ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams towards solutions
to environmental end-points, management of field projects and tasks, and
preparation of technical documents.
STUDENT LABORATORY TECHNICIAN, 2008 - 2009
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT - College Station,
Texas
As a laboratory research assistant I helped conduct research on the MixAlco
process which can convert any biodegradable material into chemicals and
fuels. I was responsible for performing a variety of clearly-defined
technical functions such as running laboratory-scale fermentations,
preparing gas and liquid samples for gas chromatography (GC), measuring
moisture and ash contents, entering data, and preparing media. I also
helped develop an electronic library of theses, dissertations, technical
papers and patents pertinent to MixAlco research. I worked with graduate
students to develop clear and explicit written procedures for fermentation
transfers and liquid sample preparation for GC analysis. These procedures
are currently the standard method used in the MixAlco lab. Because of my
ability and experience I helped train new student workers and graduate
students on these procedures. I have trained 10 individuals. My
organizational skills were applied to improve laboratory safety,
efficiency, and productivity.
