ENGINEERING WORK EXPERIENCE
Sumaria Systems Inc., Fairborn, OH.
RF Spectrum Engineer, 2007 – Present
Provide RF spectrum engineering support for 49 Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC)
and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) program offices. Examples of this support include: L-3 Com
data links for Predator and Global Hawk UAS's, Harris AN/PRC-117G radio for Special Operations
Forces, Raytheon AN/APG-82(V)1 radar for F-15 Radar Modernization Program, and numerous AFRL
small UAS and satellite programs. Evaluate and review the technical data concerning the RF
characteristics of program office’s equipment to prepare and process government certification documents (DD Form 1494, SCS, and EL-CID formats). Check equipment compliance with NTIA, MIL-STD and
AFI standards, requiring research to verify accuracy of information provided by equipment manufacturers. Provide support to the national-level Air Force Spectrum Management Office (AFSMO),
as they process the certification documents for Federal and Department of Defense approval of the RF
systems. Also provide status and technical assistance to RF spectrum managers within the 88th
Communications Group, as well as those working at other military installations and contractor offices to obtain radio frequency authorization (RFA) for testing and operation of new and existing RF equipment. Process foreign coordination documents to AFSMO for coordination with host nations to help support the RF spectrum needs of AFLCMC and AFRL programs outside the US&P. Track HNC status in Host Nation Worldwide Spectrum Database Online (HNSWDO). Perform estimates of hours to be worked on
projects and projected projects for coming fiscal year.
Captor Corporation, Tipp City, OH.
Quality Assurance/Electrical Test Technician, 2005 – 2007
Conducted in-line and final assembly inspections to ensure that EMI/RF filter components are functional and that filter construction was completed properly. Performed high voltage/high current, environmental stress and strain tests to ensure durability and robustness of production power filters and new, engineering filter designs. Verified proper frequency rejection of EMI/RF filters by conducting insertion loss tests. Insured proper conductivity of filters by taking voltage drop measurements under high voltage and current load conditions. Designed and constructed fixtures to increase the speed and reliability of production testing.
Trimble Navigation Ltd. - Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies, Huber Heights, OH.
Engineering Technician, 2004 – 2005
Conducted engineering validation testing on prototypes of new machine control products in development
and documented test results. Soldered, assembled and troubleshot prototype circuit boards utilizing
provided schematics, engineering sketches, and various lab equipment. Assembled and troubleshot
automatic functional test fixtures for use in the manufacturing of new product, printed circuit boards. Built machine control system cables and wiring harnesses for test installations on various types of construction equipment. Performed vibration and environmental life tests with quality assurance department.
Dayton Scientific Inc., Dayton, OH.
Junior Electrical Engineer, 2000 – 2003
Aided in the design and software programming of electronic controls for heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning systems and security systems. Developed schematics and specifications for redesigns of
obsolete or faulty circuit boards. Provided engineering support for technicians conducting upgrades and repairs to HVAC and security systems by researching and ordering components.
Airborne Express – ABX Air Inc., Wilmington, OH
Component Maintenance Engineering Co-Op, 1998 – 1999
Supported the daily component maintenance activities in the Avionics, Instrument, and Electrical Shops.Worked with other engineering departments on resolving part availability, interchangeability, and reliability problems. Developed Repair Engineering Authorizations (REA) for avionics/electrical
components. Developed Engineering Orders (EO) for avionic/electrical component specifications that
incorporate manufacturer and/or Airborne Express modifications and repairs. Created and revised
engineering drawings and sketches for modification, repair, and fabrication of components. Revised
aircraft wiring system diagrams to reflect component changes.
