Final Year: Designed and developed a PIC based Switch Room Alarm

Monitor using GSM technologies as a final year project. Project

provided a platform to extensively research the technology, their

applications, and functionality and use them to develop an application to

help the society.

Other: Wrote programs in C, C++ and VB.NET to interface them with

serial devices. Built, tested and debugged circuits.

Responsibility

Responsible to the Switching & Vas Planning Manager.

Key Job Purpose

To assist in the carrying out of planning and provisioning of switching and

value-added services for the core network so as to meet the needs and

expectations of customers throughout the country at all times and at the

shortest possible time.

Principal Job Responsibilities

1. In liaison with the relevant departments ensures a coordinated approach to

development objectives and prepare forecasts of mobile cellular services

requirement.

2. Prepared comprehensive investigations and project files for new and

approved projects undertook detailed and accurate investigations into

specific planned projects and evaluated the relative merits and cost

effectiveness of alternative solutions.

3. Assisted in producing system plans for switching and value-added services

equipment and specify the interfaces, signalling, synchronisation,

charging, routing, numbering and network management in accordance

with forecasted traffic profiles and planned capacities.

4. Assisted in preparation of technical specifications for switching and value-

added services equipment, tender documents and procurement contract

documents between chosen supplier and Net*One.

5. Ensured that development studies and traffic data are collected, post-

processed and analysed at regular periods to establish system capacities

and growth.

6. Participated in the implementation of all switching and value-added

services projects.

7. Acquired knowledge of GSM, IN protocols, MTP,SCCP,ISUP, TCAP, MAP

etc

8. Participated in the dimensioning and configuration of interfaces from the

core network to platforms such as the network management, billing centre,

the call centre etc

9. Took part in major project to re-home an operational BSC (Base Station

Controller) from an existing MSC R99 to a new R4 platform.

10. Took part in the integration of the SGSN, Flexi ISN to the existing NetOne

nodes (NetOne Modernisation Project) conducted by Huawei and NSN.
