Employment History:
1) Dr. Milon Karmakar - Cardiothoracic Surgeon - August 2007 to April
2008. I was a first assist to Dr. Karmakar in a wide variety of
vascular surgeries. In addition to being first assist, I responded to
consults and worked up patients referred to us. I also had some
function in the clinic setting for pre and post-operative evaluations.
2) Ark-La-Tex Cardiology - September 2006 to February 2008. I worked
weekend call and rounded on inpatients covering 5 hospitals. Admitted
patients and responded to calls/consults for our group. I ordered and
interpreted labs and studies germane to the patients in our care.
Consulted with the attending as needed. I also responded to pages from
patients at home and provided advice as needed.
Present Employment:
Department of Family Medicine at LSUHSC Shreveport - April 2008.
I
work in a physician assistant clinic providing primary care
needs to a
predominately indigent population. We have our own scheduled
patients
and evaluate new patients to our clinic. We obtain histories
and perform
physicals. Additionally we order and interpret our patients'
studies. We
also work as preceptors for physician assistant and medical
students.
I also function as the assistant director to the clinic
director of
PCF/Comprehensive Care which is the PA and medical student
clinic .
Committees: hospital ethics committee and quality council -
which
is a peer review group to make recommendations in regards to
possible
lack of appropriateness of care, adverse reactions, and so
forth for our
department.
On some Saturdays, I staff an acute care clinic in Ruston -
American Stat
Care - where we also obtain histories, perform physicals, order
and
interpret tests and on occasion perform minor procedures. I
operate this
clinic with relative autonomy - I have access to a physician if
needed.
Education:
High School: C.E. Byrd High School - Shreveport, LA. Graduated May
1996.
College: LSU-Shreveport - Worked to get prerequisites for P.A.
school and
attended 2001-2004 (roughly 60 hours).

August
2006.

Interests:
I enjoy lecturing to my alma mater PA program each winter during
their
medicine lectures and to AHEC students in the summer where I
teach a
suture workshop.
