Painter's Union Apprentices are taught the skills and knowledge of the trade through a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction.
Ability to use all hand and power tools
Identify paints and coatings by type of use, formulations and compatibility with substances and other materials
Identify types of drywall compound and putty application
Identify taping and bedding materials
Ability to apply paints and coatings to trim and walls with brush and rollers
Spray painting: metal, wood, plastic, etc.
Ability to stain wood
Sandblasting
Safety skills including how to properly use personal respiratory protection, safe use of ladders and scaffolding, safe use of airless and conventional spray equipment.
