Profile - Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager
An experienced Project Engineering professional combining breadth and depth of engineering knowledge, strong commercial acumen, analytical, planning and organization skills. A track record of delivering civil engineering projects against their key performance indicators, with demonstrable team leadership and a keen focus on stakeholder relationships; management of health and safety performance, and robust control of project risks, dealing effectively with technical challenges in wide-ranging operating environments.
Key Achievements
*As Project Engineer on a $40m utility upgrade in Africa, identified significant shortfalls in the sub-contractor design for the cabling works to be tied back to existing cables and switchgear. Faced with a tight timeline, I undertook a full site survey and developed a complete series of field sketches for trenching to deliver a complete site design for cabling to progress the job and minimize delays to the overall project.
*Demonstrated the breadth of my technical capability in resolving piping issues on a Waste Water Treatment Plant as well as a Water Distribution System caused by a significant lack of detail on drawings issued at site for pipe fittings. Researched system fittings and oversaw development of new drawings on CAD to tie in new installations to existing PVC pipework; ensured system integrity and managed the RFP to procure the correct fittings and minimize the impact on project schedule.
*As Project Engineer for a $16m Shopping Centre design-build project at the Shaw Air Force Base, I was brought in at site level to coordinate the project activities during the construction phase and ensure design integrity across multi-disciplines; resolved discrepancies in design and construction planning sequence, and provided the coordination of sub-contractor activities through field design remedial work to construction, to deliver against budget and schedule.
*Resolved an issue with local subcontractor performance on the $65m construction of a Shopping Centre at the Kadena Air Base in Japan; identified the lack of planning capability, particularly their application of planning packages, therefore trained them in the use of Critical Path Methodologies, enabling them to manage project scheduling and meet project commitments.
*Consistently developed fit-for-purpose project structures to establish effective controls and governance at corporate and site level, and provide for ready identification and management of risk, to ensure project performance against Key Performance Indicators.
