Potbelly Sandwich Shop Chicago, IL
Training Deployment Manager
I began as a manager in a shop and within a year was promoted to the company's Training and Leadership team which I have been part of for over 7 years. I have been able to help evolve several different training roles as I grew and learned from them. I was a Training Coordinator for 2 years, allowing me to gain experience in traveling and support the training process in over 150 new shops. Through this experience, I was able to create a guide that supports every market in consistently training the new teams. This role evolved into the Zone Training Manager role, which I was able to create by creating the role's expectations, criteria and documented standards. This role has evolved into the field training consultant. I developed a training guide for all new Zone Training Managers that supports their growth as the training consultant. I spend time with them in the field as their coach and ensure they are exceeding the job requirements. I support the growth of our department by coaching the field training support in 3 different markets. As part of the Zone Training Manager role, I multi-tasked between a training consultant and an Instructional Designer. I have been involved in the creation of several different training programs and have led the creation of training documentation and process on different project teams. After 2 years as a Zone Training Manager, I was promoted to the Training Deployment Manager where I continue to lead team projects, coach our field trainers and create training materials through documentation and eLearning. I have also been evolving this role to more than just deployment. I lead our team weekly meetings by creating a specific agenda and time line. The benefit from these meetings is to bring awareness of company initiatives and how our team will support, constant collaboration and sharing best practices which leads to teamwork. I have created an environment full of strong positive energy, trust, accountability and teamwork. I create monthly presentation for each field training support to present at the monthly Zone Meetings. I am also part of weekly conference calls to support the training in the new market shop openings in over 5 different markets. Throughout my time on the Training and Leadership team, I have earned 7 company awards for training creation and was part of the team that was awarded 2010 Workforce Chicago Award-Honoring Corporate Excellence.

Manager
As a Manager with Chili's, I was able to work at several shops. My main focus was to support the growth at the shop by identifying the opportunity and creating a plan to improve. This would require patient observation, asking great questions and the ability to analyze results to identify the issue. I would collaborate with the General Manager and team to resolve the issues and increase performance and results of the restaurant. I was also part of a New Shop opening Management team that worked long hard hours to ensure the team was well trained and the customers enjoyed their experience.

Awards include a grant of up to $1,500 to pay for expenses and a 10-hour undergraduate assistantship for fall and spring semester during the award term. To achieve this award, I completed an application and essay explaining why I deserved this award.
