Jose Antonio Font learned the basics of credit underwriting as Loan Officer with the Small Business Administration and since 1991 mastered the art of real estate development as Chief Executive Officer of Font International Corp. Mr. Font has also devoted his life to the organization of non profit institutions that promote business and economic development for entrepreneurs in the United States, and freedom and democracy in Cuba and the Americas.

In the area of project finance and development, recent initiatives have included:

Implementing project finance and development initiatives in Honduras, Central America that have resulted in a) establishing Mercados Populares de Honduras, S.A. de C.V, a program to modernize and expand community based retail markets; b) organizing affordable housing development projects for members of the Security Forces of Honduras and members of the Federacion de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Credito de Honduras, (FACACH); and c) planning -Hipotecas de Honduras- as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) / $100,000,000 Mortgage Finance Facility to be funded by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, (OPIC) in partnership with FACACH. Also involved in the analysis of hydroelectrical energy projects. (2010 - date).

Planning The Marigny House and Chartres Street Forum, a $50,000,000 economic development initiative in Faubourg Marigny, New Orleans, with forecasted EBIDTA of $59,000,000 over 20 year period, in accordance with a residential boutique hotel business model conceptualized by Font International Corp. for emerging markets in the US. Site research began on July, 2007. Achieved de facto entitlement on October, 2009. Capitalization structure included: $25,000,000 Go Zone Tax Exempt Bonds, approved by Industrial Development Board of the City of New Orleans on October 2009; $7,500,000 Section 108 Loan by City of New Orleans; $5,000,000 D-CDBG, preliminarily approved by State of Louisiana; $10,000,000 NMTC equity verbally committed by Goldman Sacks Urban Group as net project share from a $50,000,000 tax credit investment; $1,250,000 cash investment / expenditures by Font International Corp. as project developer, and $250,000 by Trapolin Architects, both as Members of the Marigny Investments, LLC, the project owner, where J.A. Font serves as Manager. The Marigny House is an initiative that will create approximately 150 construction jobs with payrolls of $19,840,000 over an 18 month period, as well as 153 permanent jobs producing $65 million dollars in payrolls and $35 million in tax revenues over a 20 year period. The creation of $100,000,000 dollars of public and private wealth. A major economic impact. Development Team included: Font International Corp., www.fontinternational.com; Trapolin - Peer Architects / www.trapolinpeer.com; Vanir Construction Management, LLC / www.vanir.com; Jones Walker, Attorneys at Law / www.joneswalker.com; Tax Advantage Group, LLC / NMTC Advisors / www.taxadvantagegroup.com. Construction startup pending the engagement of a Preferred Investor at $3,000,000 cash investment level & Guarantor to secure local commercial banks that agreed to participate as bond enhancers. (2007 - 2010).

Serving as Manager and President of American Capital Partners, LLC, the General Partner of Capital Place, LLLP, in planning the development of a 110,519 SF mixed-use condominium, office and retail project owned on a 50/50 basis with Peninsula Mortgage Bankers Corp., PMBC. Anticipating the downturn of the South Florida economy, and because of financial difficulties experienced by PMBC, site was sold to a foreign commercial investor in September 2006. FONT assumed 100% ownership of ACP in 2008. (2005 - 2007).

Serving Peninsula Mortgage Bankers Corp., as member of its 3 person Real Estate Division, in the analysis and acquisition of five ( 5 ) land sites resulting in transaction profits of $10,015,000. (2003 - 2004). With share of profits capitalized American Capital Partners, LLC on a 50/50 basis with PMBC.

Planning and executing the re-organization and capitalization of Camacol Loan Fund, Inc., CLF, as a Community Development (Non Bank) Financial Institution (CDFI), in accordance with the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Treasury. Serving the institution as Chief Lending Officer / Executive Director, (2001 - 2003), probono President (2004 - 2005), Vice Chairman of the Board & Treasurer. (2006 - 2010).

In the area of institution building, Mr. Font has worked on initiatives that encompassed:

Serving as probono secretary to Jose Elias de la Torriente, founder of the -Plan para la Liberacion de Cuba-, involving the governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica and the United States. Operations taken over by the Central Intelligence Agency, June 1971. Mr. de la Torriente was assassinated April 1974. (1969 - 1971).

Establishing the groundwork that led to the growth of the Cuban American Freedom Lobby in Washington, D.C., while serving as National Secretary for Foreign Relations, Abdala Cuban Student Movement, (1971 - 1975).

Organizer of the Greater Washington Ibero (Hispanic) American Chamber of Commerce, serving as CEO for a ten year period of an institution that represented U.S. Hispanics businesspeople from all countries of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, residing in the nation`s capital area. Implemented programs that achieved the start-up / expansion of some five hundred (500) small and middle market minority owned firms in the U.S. and Central America, and the channeling of $300 million in funding, contracts and trade transactions between 1977 - 1986.

Organizer / founding Vice President (one of two key co-organizers) of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, achieving unification of all hispanic chambers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. (1978 - 1984).

Founding Member and Washington Representative of the Permanent Secretariat of the Hemispheric Congress of Latin Chambers of Commerce and Industry, working to advance free trade in the Americas. (1980 - 1998).

Executive Director and member of the Board of Trustees of the Cuban American National Foundation, the premier lobby organization advancing freedom in Cuba at the time, headquartered in Washington, D.C. Personally involved in conceptualizing and implementing policy initiatives, in coordination with the U.S. Department of State / Reagan White House. (1987 - 1988).

Organizer and founding President of Alianza Democratica Cubana, devoting eight years (1989 - 1996) to the formulation and promotion, among congressional leaders and among senior executives at the White House and State Department of the Clinton Administration, of a new policy for Cuba, until passage of the U.S. Liberty Act in 1996, made possible the funding of programs that advanced democratic organization and civil society inside Cuba. Alianza Democratica is currently focused on the implementation of -democracy education- initiatives in partnership with Cuba Independiente y Democratica (CID), fastest growing political movement inside Cuba. (1989 - 2012).

Founding Director of the Institute for Democracy in Cuba, the first U.S. funded entity to advance democratic organization and formation inside Cuba, pursuant to the advocacy work conducted by Alianza Democratica between 1989 - 1996. Elected Chairman of the Civil Society Bureau. Served as Executive Producer and Director in the production of six ( 6 ) didactic course videos and publications. Full time work on a probono basis. (1997 - 2000).

Education

Graduate Studies in International Finance and Development Banking at The American University, Washington, DC, 1971 - 1973, and a BA in International Business and Economics, School of International Service, also AU, 1969.
