SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - R&D Dept 10/08 - 9/12

Lead mechanical engineer for variety of programs at Night Vision facility involving world leading technology of night vision products for the US Military. Performed concept to detail designs, tolerance analyses, problem solving, creation of drawings, and led the mechanical team and a cross functional team through design, testing and trouble shooting of hardware.

Key Achievements:

* Lead Mechanical Engineer on $36 million program (Spiral Enhanced Night Vision Goggle), the next generation of Night Vision technology for the US Military and allies that embeds fused imaging capability to night vision goggles. Performed preliminary and detail design of complex goggle assembly, mechanical tolerance analyses, and creation of drawings, while leading a cross-functional team of engineers (ME, QA, Manufacturing, Test, and Integration). Additionally, responsible for meeting cost, schedule, and technical requirements of the program, interfacing with US Government, and performing Failure Analysis after environmental testing.

o Interfaced with vast array of suppliers including machine shops, injection and over-molding vendors, optical/glass providers and specialty product suppliers.

* Lead Mechanical Engineer on $100 million Enhanced Night Vision Goggle program (the largest fused goggle production program at Night Vision facility) for United States Army. Led a technical team responsible for ensuring all mechanical design requirements are met, creatively solving new problems in heritage hardware, and working with our molding and machine shop suppliers to ensure form/fit/function of parts.

BALL AEROSPACE & TECHNOLOGIES CORP. - Boulder, CO

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER 7/96 - 8/2008

Lead mechanical engineer and Integrated Product Team Leader on numerous classified and unclassified programs and proposal efforts involving state of the art aerospace technology (telescopes, optics, mechanisms, antennas, spacecraft subsystems) responsible for overseeing cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

Key Achievements:

* Lead Mechanical Engineer and IPT Leader on large Phased Array Antenna program for United States Navy. Responsible for all design aspects of the antenna assembly as well as leading an engineering team to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements for the entire mechanical design.

* Led mechanical study and proposal effort of a $15 million microsatellite for the United States Air Force. Full responsibility for creating concepts and designs for a microsatellite bus, determining scope of work, scheduling, drawing estimates, costing, and performing analysis and trade studies.

* Other major design work includes flight hardware focal plane arrays (classified), camera assemblies (Mars Rover), Star Tracker housings and mountings, and cryogenic telescope assembly (SIRTF/Spitzer Telescope).

Lead mechanical engineer on a variety of government and classified programs involving high-tech underwater subsystems for the U.S. Navy. Responsible for preliminary and detail design, electro-mechanical packaging, preliminary structural analysis, and testing and fabrication of delivered hardware.

Key Achievements:

* Senior engineer managing the design and fabrication of a ship mounted EMI shielded ISO van and internal cabinets for electronic hardware. Responsibilities included mechanical design, thermal, structural, and vibration analysis.

* Principle investigator for an IRAD program to research underwater mateable connectors (electrical and fiber optic) involving research, analysis, and design of connectors. Invented and received a patent for a novel U/W mateable connector.

* Lead designer on various underwater subsystems and corresponding ship mounted hardware including sonars, sonic locators, transducer housings, and electronic equipment consoles.
