Projects
Knowledge Management in a Problem Determination Platform
I led the team in Haifa, and was responsible for the coordination with
international colleagues. Our team focused on a) search over technical
problem-solution data b) server-side syndication.
Role: project leader
Related areas: Information Retrieval, Web Syndication, Relational
Databases, SQL
Semantic, content-based file system
I participated in a research project on the border of file systems and
search. In this project, we explored a novel approach of semantic file
systems. We tackled a variety of research and engineering challenges
such as performance, security, and user experience. We demonstrated
our technology on a Windows-based file system, as well as IBM's
StorageTank file system.
Role: researcher / developer

Related areas: Information Retrieval, Semi-Structured data, File Systems,
Security, Web Development
Fault Tolerance of Parallel Applications
I have designed and implemented a parallel fault tolerance functionality
of MPI programs, for the IBM SP supercomputer platform. Challenges
included coping with race conditions and synchronization issues.
Role: researcher / developer
Related areas: Parallel and Distributes Programming, Operating Systems
Large Scale Computing Hadoop/MapReduce
I participated in a research project that explored the Hadoop
Map/Reduce framework, and its potential value in the area of storage.
My role required extensive self learning, interaction with several teams,
and responsibility over one person.
Role: researcher / developer
Related areas: Large Scale Computing, Hadoop Map/Reduce, HBase,
Storage
General Parallel File System (GPFS)
My role was to design and implement the parallel re-stripe functionality
of IBM's GPFS file system.
Role: researcher / developer
Related areas: Parallel and Distributed Programming, File Systems
Customer Profiles and Product Recommendation
I took part in the specification, design and implementation aspects of the
project. I worked on content-based recommendations, user profiles,
REST API specification, and user interface.
Role: researcher / developer
Related areas: Information Retrieval, Recommendation Systems, Web
development
Search Performance and User Interaction Monitoring of Search Engines
My main focus was on the design and implementation of a remote access
infrastructure and API.
Role: researcher / developer
Related areas: Java Servlets, REST API
