Datalex is a global software development company originally from Dublin, Ireland, focusing on the travel and tourism industry. The Singapore office caters for companies in the South East Asia region.

My role inside Datalex continues to be related to Singapore Airlines, with ongoing support and maintenance, as well as development work for new projects. My role also includes a team leadership component, in which I oversee the other developers from Datalex, inside Singapore Airlines, in a technical and development capacity.

This role has given me the opportunity to work even more closely with Singapore Airlines, and has strengthened my client-side communication ability.

The use of JBuilder Enterprise and Eclipse were used in the Java development for this role.

December 2001 to December 2001Java Programmer (Contract) CHEP Australia http://www.chep.com.au

CHEP is a multinational company who specialise in equipment pooling systems and pallet distribution. It was founded in 1946, and in 1974, Brambles and GKN joined the company to bring it to where it is now.

The project that I was working on for CHEP was working on a unified JDBC approach for their client facing systems. It involved the database pooling for both Oracle and HP Image databases, and rewriting a lot of their system to support this new module.

I was also involved in recommendations to make their development and deployment environment more industry standard, and also recommendations for future development for their client facing websites.

The use of JBuilder 5 Enterprise was used in the Java development for the role.

Datalex is a global software development company originally from Dublin, Ireland, focusing on the travel and tourism industry. The Sydney office was a dedicated software development house before it was closed due to global economic conditions.

My role at Datalex involved me in various projects, the two largest being for Singapore Airlines and Abacus. These were the development of J2EE middleware booking systems, using JDBC, XML, RMI, JINI, Servlets, JSP and many other J2EE technologies. The booking system for Singapore Airlines was deployed on Weblogic on HPUX, and Abacus was deploying on Tomcat on Windows 2000.

The Singapore airlines project lasted the whole duration of my employment, giving me opportunity to develop, and then to consult with the client in regards to support of the product, and for bug fixing issues. The Abacus project was a 5 month project, and I was also involved in internal product support with co-employees.

The use of JBuilder 5 Enterprise was used in the Java development for the role.

Galexia is an information technology and security professional services company with a focus on the legal sector.

During my time with Galexia, I was involved in the support and system administration for both the Law Society of NSW and the Law Institute of Victoria. I was involved as a core developer in the Online Precedents Distribution system for the Law Society of NSW, this was a Java J2EE based project, lasting most of my time at Galexia, using Servlets and JSPs, utilizing a Model View Controller architecture, backed by an Oracle database which I was a DBA for. This role also gave me the opportunity to mentor Junior Java programmers.

For the system administration side of this position, I administrated multiple Solaris machines, running on both Intel and SPARC. It also involved extensive system documentation, and system performance monitoring, and maintenance.
