Teaching Experience
Summer 2011College Physics Instructor, University of Rochester
Taught PHY113, a 6-week summer course for science students. Solely responsible for all
aspects of the course, with the exception of labs. 35 student, four credit hour course
included four days/week of two-hour lectures and two days/week of two-hour workshops.
2001-2003Secondary School Physics Teacher, US Peace Corps, Ghana, West Africa
Taught elective physics for science students and physics for integrated science at Zamse
Secondary Technical School in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, Ghana, West Africa as a
member of the US Peace Corps. Taught 'Form One' and 'Form Two' sections of advanced
physics course, each ~80 students, one-hour lectures three days per week, equivalent to
10th and 11th grade AP Physics. Also taught physics for integrated science students, 12
one-hour lectures per week for ~300 students. My elective physics students achieved a 50%
passing rate on the WAEC Physics exam, up from 10% in previous years. Wrote a Small
Development Project Grant Proposal for $2000 and established a 20-seat computer lab.
