Nationstar Mortgage, Lewisville, Texas 2011- Present

One of the largest non-bank mortgage companies in the US. Nationstar Mortgage (NSM) employs over 4000 associates, manages over $180 billion in servicing and serves 1.1 million borrowers.

Directed the startup of the IT Shared Services group, with focus on modernizing the Service Desk, expanding QA operations and establishing effective general IT controls. Established the operational IT controls required by the commercial customers of Nationstar. Successful completion of the program was a necessary component of NSM`s four-fold expansion in the last 16 months and required regular direct reporting and interaction with the CEO, CIO and most of the Executive staff. Planned and led implementation of ITIL Service Management and COBIT controls frameworks.

* Service Desk: Managed the implementation of new service desk technology to provide better visibility into the responsiveness of the Service Desk to caller needs. Completed the project on time, on budget and without interruption in service. Completed over 150,000 service requests during the first year of operations, filling 90% of the requests within very aggressive Service Levels. Centralized security administration, and moved most of the function off-shore, reducing average on-boarding from 8 days to 2. Led the technical provisioning efforts during the acquisition of Aurora Bank, culminating in the successful on-boarding of over 900 associates in 3 days.

* Quality Assurance: Led the expansion of the Software testing organization to include Servicing and Corporate systems in addition to Origination systems. Oversaw the implementation of test management software and the standardization of testing documentation, increasing tester throughput by 20%. Established Controls Assessment function to continually validate the operation of general IT controls.

* Finance: Led the development of the 2012 IT budget, including the development of all budget management and reporting tools. Directed the IT Purchasing department in the management of over 2000 purchase requests for over $40 M in equipment. Established Time management and reporting functions.

Vice President, Technical Services

Directed the technical infrastructure organization supporting over 1100 stores in 2 chains, 6 distribution centers, 3 manufacturing facilities, and multiple corporate headquarters facilities, with a staff of over 120. Managed an infrastructure composed of over 180 UNIX (AIX) and a similar number of Wintel servers with over 750 TB of storage in EMC SANs. Led supporting functions for all Oracle applications including RDBMS, Oracle HR, Finance and Retail (Retek). Reported to the CIO and directly managed two Directors, one Manager and an Enterprise Architect

* Financial: Managed approximately $23 million in capital projects and another $24 million in operating expense annually. Led the management of all software and hardware inventory across the enterprise, including the store depot which processed and re-purposed more than 100 stores worth of hardware inventory annually. In addition, managed software licensing and renewals exceeding $10 million annually.

* Governance/Policies: Directed the development of Michaels Information Security organization, functioning as the Chief Information Security Officer. Successfully led both Sarbanes/Oxley (SOX) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) remediation efforts, which culminated in Michaels being certified under the PCI standards. Additionally, implemented the appropriate COBIT controls to support the recurring SOX internal and external IT audits for Section 404 certification.

* Help Desk: Led 22 Store Support/Help desk associates, 4 Customer Service associates, and 6 desktop support people. Drove the implementation of the ITIL framework including the enhancement of Service Desk Functions, which led to a 400% increase in first call resolutions and a 20% increase in customer approval ratings.

* Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity: Took over a failed program that couldn't recover even the core operational systems and personally led the first successful DR test of the core systems within the first 90 days of assuming leadership. Drove continual improvements in the program and testing over each year leading to a program that was consistently rated -exemplary- in both internal and external audits.

* Led the organizational transformation of the Technical Services to a respected and appreciated team that continued to excel and improve, which was demonstrated when a Technical Services project team was selected for a Michaels CREATE award (Michaels highest award for individual or team achievement) - a first for Technical Services.

* Drove a net headcount reduction of 5% while expanding service into Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Change Management and Storage Management. Consolidated similar functions and drove increasing productivity through performance management.

* Directed infrastructure upgrades and improvements that added significant performance and capacity improvements while reducing operating expenses by over $2 million annually. Doubled available bandwidth at each store while reducing annual data spend by $1 million.

* Partnered with other Michaels executives to develop multi-year systems architecture plans that would transform and modernize Michaels supporting systems over the next 3 years.

* Led the infrastructure support of the opening of over 300 new stores and remodels across 4 retail and wholesale chains, which opened on time with less than one systems error per 10 grand openings.

Managed $2.8 million in continuing operations and $2.9 million in capital projects. Reporting to the CIO, concurrently led multiple technical organizations, directly supervising two Assistant Vice Presidents, two managers and two Enterprise Architects:

* Led the Advanced Systems Support group which maintained 30 physical and 100 logical UNIX servers and databases. The group also provided operational support of the Enterprise Application Integration, Change Management Systems, FileNet WorkFlo imaging, document management and business process automation systems

* Managed the Change and Configuration Management group providing administrative support of all Change and Configuration Management Systems throughout FTN.

* Governance/Policies: Designed and managed an operational architecture process that achieved the consolidation of UNIX servers realizing $2.5 million in hard-dollar savings. Introduced Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage culminating in continued savings in excess of $100,000 annually.
