As a contractor since 1993, most positions have been Oracle DBA roles which have
consisted of standard DBA
activities, such as software installation; backup and recovery planning and
implementation; database sizing; user
account management; performance monitoring; schema management for development projects
etc. The specific

Environment Oracle versions 10gR2 and 11gR2, Exadata V2, several multi-terabyte data

? Working in the Financial Control IT organization within this Tier 1 Investment Bank and
Wealth Management
organisation, I was involved in the ongoing development, support and trouble-shooting of
a handful of critical
multi-terabyte data warehouse and reporting systems.
? Key member of the Database Performance Team with responsibility for identifying,
analyzing and resolving
performance issues in critical Production systems and reviewing and helping others
develop efficient SQL at
all stages of the development life-cycle.

introduction of new optimiser features and elimination of legacy parameter settings.
? Oracle Developer/DBA for Operational Cash Ladder project developing a forward-looking
liquidity solution for
use by Front-Office traders and internal Treasury department which entailed all
Development DBA activities
including initial schema design, partition and statistics management utilities developed
in PL/SQL, guiding
Java developers in the most efficient use of Oracle and assisting with any Oracle issues
encountered. This
project used Agile/Scrum methodologies extensively.

? Helped implement a pair of 10.2 RAC/ASM/Grid Control clusters on Linux for performance
testing.
