PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Halcrow works with public and private-sector clients around the world, including contractors, developers, operators, regulators, financial institutions, international funding agencies, local, regional and national governments, project consortia and asset owners. Halcrow has a staff of approximately 6,000 worldwide and had turnover of $730 million in 2009.
Senior CAD Designer

* Prepared 3D renderings for the marketing of a signature bridge project for a Caribbean resort property, resulting in the company winning the design contract for the $2.5 million project.
* Led the training effort for the office staff in the use of CAD systems; saving Halcrow at least $6,000 in external training costs.
* Created instructive engineering design diagrams for the Virginia Department of Transportation for inclusion in the Bridge Design Manual. These illustrations were produced in both MicroStation and Microsoft Word formats for a $100,000 contract.
* Contributed to overall project viability by the ability to drafting and detailing plans in both AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting software.

Virginia Department of Transportation, Richmond, VA 1994-2007
This agency is responsible for construction and maintenance activities on the Commonwealth of Virginia's 44,000+ mile highway system. The Structure and Bridge Division is responsible for bridges, tunnels and miscellaneous structures and has a staff of 80 in the Central Office.
Engineering Technician
Procured and administered professional services contracts. Designed and drafted plans for smaller structures when doing this work in-house was more cost effective than using a consultant.

* Designed custom box culverts to replace two failed bridges in Southwest Virginia which allowed for quicker construction and reduced construction costs by approximately $200,000. Community and departmental feedback was overwhelmingly positive for the aesthetics, efficiency and cost of the end product.
* Oversaw large projects and served as overall project lead while supervisor was out of the office for extended periods overseas.
