EDUCATION
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Sam Houston State University, 1989. Major: Radio, Television and Film specializing in Production. Distinguished student with a grade point average of 3.3 in major. Selected for National Dean`s List in 1988 and 1989. Strong background in computers, advanced math and physics with 67 hours of an Engineering curriculum at Texas A&M University. Fair ability in German language and culture having been a graduate of Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany.
EXPERIENCE
Dec 2011-Present
Post-Production Director/Editor for Eleven11 Media. Primary Editor on an independent movie entitled Reality Movie. Responsibilities included editing, compositing, color treatment, audio sweetening, motion graphics and special
effects as well as producing multiple trailers. Other projects include post-production work on an independent TV reality show entitled The Ultimate Player.
Sept 1995-April 2011
Senior Post-Production Director/Editor for WMDT-TV; also served as Promotions Manager for five years. Duties included post-production of commercials, promotions, PSAs, local programming, corporate videos and various news elements such as opens, bumpers, etc. Duties included working closely with producers, clients and management to produce the best product possible within time and monetary budgets. I also served as studio lighting director for many years. Other work included assisting engineers in transitioning the station from analog to digital.
July 1991-July 1995
Senior Producer/Director/On-Line Editor for KWES-TV; also served as Assistant Operations Manager. I was responsible for post-production of on-air promotions and commercials. Also involved in all other aspects of production including directing newscasts, directing live remotes, formatting newscast opens and bumpers, production of local programming and news specials, lighting of sets, shooting, editing special news packages, production of industrial and music videos, PSA spot production, etc. KWES-TV (formerly KTPX-TV) went from #3 in market share to the #1 station in the market within two years. According to the station manager, I was an integral part of the team that made our station #1.
July 1989-June 1991
Producer/Director for KPEJ-TV; responsibilities included production of commercials, PSA`s and some promotions. Also worked in other areas of production including switching of on-air programming, directing local programming and shooting of commercials and promotions.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Winner of over 25 local Addy and Telly Awards: including several Best of Shows with national recognition. Associate Producer/Director for a weather special that received national honors. I worked on several local programming projects which gained local support and recognition. Free-lance endeavors include work with HSE, The Discovery Channel, Associated Press, Trans-Global Productions and various advertising agencies. I have also edited several low budget movies and music videos.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Proficient in Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, Color, Compressor, Boris FX, Sapphire, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Experience with most digital formats and codecs, analog and digital tape formats, Grass Valley Switchers/Editors, Pinnacle and Microtime DVEs, Chyron and 3M character generators, various audio boards, BetaCams, P2 and other various cameras. I adapt to new hardware/software very quickly. I`m also proficient in lighting sets and lighting boards. Engineering experience in equipment wiring and operation workflows as well as troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
OTHER EMPLOYMENT
Accomplished magician; having performed for comedy clubs, night clubs, hotels, trade shows, restaurants, company parties and local television. A member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and served as President of the West Texas Association of Magicians. This fascinating hobby has given me vast knowledge in the art of illusion and public performance as well as improving my communication skills.
