TITLES
after classical studies he graduated in mechanical engineering at the
Engineering Faculty of the University of Naples on 12/16/1986
working on an experimental thesis on non destructive evaluation of
composite materials whit ultrasonic techniques
on November 86 he classified second for a Magnaghi Naples
scholarship on "Design and manufacturing of composite airframe
structures"
on november 87 he took a course on industrial radiography at the
School of Applied Non Destructive Testing of the Welding Institute
in Cambridge UK, after this and having developed experience on the
job he was certified for Alenia X Ray III level per MIL-STD 410E
on march 88 he took a course on Non Destructive Inspection with
Ultrasound at the Ecomag company in Milan Italy; after this, and having
developed experience on that job, he was certified for Alenia US III
level per MIL-STD 410E
from January 92 to June of the same year he took a course on Total
Quality at the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materiel Division in
Seattle USA; he was qualified by Boeing, after experimental
implementation of the concepts on the real practice, Advanced Quality
System Trainer.
from December 95 to February 96 he took a course on Metrology organized
by AICQ (Italian Association for Quality), c/o the Pomigliano d'Arco Alenia
plant
on June 96 he took a course on the organization of Testing
Laboratories within the UNI CEI EN 45001 standard; the course was
organized by EMIT LAS in Milan with, as teachers, technicians operating
with national metrology laboratories and SIT (Italian calibration Service)
on June 96 he took a course on Management and Quality Assurance of
Testing Laboratories organized by ALPI (Indipendent Testing Laboratories
Association and SINAL (Italian National Laboratories Accreditation
System)
from October 97 to February 98 he took a 200 hours course on Quality
related topics within the ISO 9000 standards family to fulfil the
minimum requirement for the admission to the European Register of
Quality System Manager maintained by the European Organization for
Quality. The course consisting in theory and application of case studies
was teached from AICQ(Italian Association for Quality)
foreign language knowledge: English - American satisfying, consolidated
during long stays in the U.S. (on 83 he earned the Certificate
for Proficiency in English from the University of Michigan);
French, scholastic knowledge.
WORK EXPERIENCES
starting from march 87 he works with Alenia within the New
Materials Development Group of the Technical Direction, where his job
deals with Non Destructive Evaluation of airframe structures and
Manufacturing Technologies.
more in detail his duties comprehend:
experimentation and set-up of procedures together with Quality Control
personnel training for the Non Destructive Inspection of airframe
structures and components
the same above mentioned activities related to inspection of
aircrafts in service and during fatigue testing using ultrasound
radiography and eddy current testing
implementation in the design-production cycle of Boeing Total Quality
techniques (Advanced Quality System)
participation in the issuing of company standards related to the
Alenia Total Quality approach.
Within the above described activities he works closely in touch
with customers/partners like Boeing, Douglas, Aerospatiale and AMI
(Italian Military Aviation) acting side by side with the Quality
Assurance, the production engineering and the Commercial Department.
research in the above mentioned fields and specifically:
"Development of through transmission and pulse-echo ultrasonic
techniques", research theme developed by Alenia with own personnel
and in cooperation with the National Research Council in Pisa, the
Engineering Faculty of the University of Naples and the Center for
Composite Materials of the University of Delaware (USA)
image processing with digital techniques adopting hw/s systems using Ms-
DOS, MPX, UNIX and MAC-OS.
smart manufacturing technologies related to innovative metallic
materials and hybrids
from February 90 to May of the same year he acted as Industrial Intern at
the Centre for Composite Materials of the University of Delaware where
he works on the development of pulse-echo ultrasonic techniques
with robotized manipulators and Unix workstations
- from 90 to 93 he represents Alenia in the Industrial Advisory
Board for the addressing of the research policies of the University of
Delaware
the research work is directly developed in the Alenia laboratories or
is managed within a cooperation with external entities, mostly in the
framework of European research programs with EU financing.
starting from April 1996 he works with CIRA (Italian Aerospace
Research Center), here he works within the Quality Assurance and has the
responsibility of Metrology . Within his duties he is responsible of
the design implementation and continuous improvement of the
Laboratories Quality System. The system itself is based on UNI CEI EN
ISO/IEC 17025.
his duties relate with the design and realization of a metrological
laboratory able to satisfy the calibration needs of all testing
inspection and control devices used at CIRA laboratories
he moreover cooperates with the CIRA corporate Quality Assurance for the
issuing of CIRA Quality System documentation (the CIRA Quality System
is based on UNI EN ISO 9001 and was certified by UNAVIAcert in January
04), for the personnel training on quality related topics and for the
Quality Assurance of the Unmanned Space Vehicle and of the Unmanned Air
Vehicle projects.
