I have spent over 40 years in the insurance and reinsurance industry concentrating in the early part of my career on underwriting property & casualty insurance and reinsurance in the London Market, Bermuda and the United States and in the latter on disputes, litigation and run-off.

I have held senior management positions including the Chairmanship of a Group of Companies, and President of others. I have presented at numerous industry conferences and am, and have been, a member of various task forces or committees of industry associations.

Since 2005, I have been an arbitrator and expert witness. I am certified as an arbitrator and umpire by ARIAS-US and as an arbitrator by ARIAS-UK.

I began my career on at Lloyds of London in the late 1960’s and then moved to Gibraltar where I became Managing Director of a reinsurance company, and also an officer and director of a local life insurance company.

In 1978, I joined an international group, first in Bermuda to become Managing Director of captive organizations before returning to London to head an International Casualty Division. In 1987, I returned to Bermuda, becoming President and Chief Underwriter of a finite reinsurance operation.

In 1999, I joined a leading run-off organization. My responsibilities included the management of several middle market casualty insurance subsidiaries of the organization.

I also managed a number of significant disputes, which led me to become interested in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and which resulted in my deciding to become a full time arbitrator.

Since then, I have since been appointed in over 175 disputes, as party appointed or umpire. These matters have included reinsurance and insurance matters and included such issues as allocation, aggregation, security, coverage and miscellaneous contract issues.

I have acted as party appointed for insurers, ceding companies and reinsurers and as an expert witness and have been a mediator on a number of matters.
