Production Manager
Primary Responsibilities are all pre-press, press, packaging and maintenance operations.
Responsibilities include the selection, installation, training and operation of all department equipment;
Providing leadership and direction to the department managers, supervisors and personnel; and
assisting them in operating the department in an efficient and effective manner.
Specific Responsibilities:
Supervise the day-to-day operation of the production department.
Oversee and supervise the installation of department equipment, training of employees, and trouble shooting
and testing of department equipment.
Work with newspaper departments and outside vendors, as needed, to select, install and maintain production
equipment.
Develop and document standard operating procedures and instructions.
Be responsible for the operation of all pre-press, press and post-press equipment. Insure compliance of all
backup, disaster recovery and maintenance routines and programs.
Comply with all state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
Order, track and inventory all departments supplies and parts.
Supervise and back-up the Quality Assurance Supervisor, Press Manager, Maintenance Manager and the Post-
Press Manager.
Review and administer equipment contracts and maintenance agreements.
Evaluate, maintain and adhere to production schedules and deadlines.
Evaluate, maintain and adhere to quality control standards.
Provide on-call support over a 7x24 schedule.
Develop and maintain a problem management system to record and track problems and insure a timely
resolution to outstanding problems.
Prepare annual budgets and expense reports.
Evaluate employees and make salary recommendations.
