PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS
Advanced company productivity by establishing Federal Reserve Bank transmission interface using
Connect Direct that improved reliability and expanded support staff availability.
Safeguarded company future by converting all bank Internet transmissions to virtual servers that enhanced
disaster recovery procedures including application backups and scalability upgrades.
Masterminded successful Lockbox upgrade project, allocating and managing resources and staff to improve
operational efficiency and profitability at 5 sites, resolving SOX and audit issues and implementing disaster
recovery functionality within 12 months, six months ahead of anticipated goal.
Improved functionality required by Operations Group by converting Lockbox Operations web site from
Windows NT ASP to Windows 2003 ASP.net and VB6 to C#.
Achieved successful implementation of client image viewer that enriched experience of high-volume
Lockbox customers with automated download of files and distribution of CDs.
Delivered in-house ASP.net and C# training for Lockbox and Transmission support staff that facilitated
problem-free conversion and ensured availability of knowledgeable staff for projects and support.
Secured SOX compliance after SAS70 review for systems assigned with successful implementation of
requirements for business continuity, disaster recovery, change control, separation of duties including
procedural documentation and training.
Strengthened Lockbox application functionality after completing double application upgrade at four sites to
resolve software problems and bring the application current to take advantage of reduced vendor support
contracts renegotiated as an incentive to continue using this vendor.
Spearheaded Transmission migration project, working independently to select vendor, negotiate software
license, professional services agreements and maintenance agreements, install and test software, train
support staff for Production and DR platforms and launch production within 90 days after contract signing.
COST REDUCTION, TIME SAVINGS AND REVENUE GROWTH
Reduced costs by negotiating new software license agreement with Sterling Software to install new
Connect Direct server application converting all lease line customers from mainframe to server based
communications eliminating $150,000 mainframe application upgrade and saving annual $165,000 on
maintenance.
Accelerated conversion of 4,700 Transmission and 300 Lockbox customers to 3 months, cutting 1 week
from schedule that saved $20,000 in conversion costs without production issues.
Saved $25,000 annually by renegotiating two communications software support licenses.
Reduced costs and customer issues by completing Lockbox conversion that required upgrades to
database, customer interface, application and OS resulting in standardized software at four sites.

to two servers, earning company $800,000 per month by increasing file transmission volume from 4,500
sessions per month to nearly 150,000 sessions per month.

LEADERSHIP
Responsible for justifying and funding migration of technology used to support systems from NT and VB6 to
Window 2003 and Windows 2005 VB.net C# and ASP.net months before this became a company wide
direction.
Spearheaded move to low cost Unix and Oracle technologies with the successful implementation of the
company’s first use of these tools for a production system that included the first use of high availability for
an online system not using fault tolerant hardware.
Drove the installation of fault tolerant hardware and software for two mission critical systems five years
before fault tolerance was approved as a company wide solution for mission critical applications.
Justified converting sensitive server based communications applications to virtual servers that led to
increased performance, scalability, high availability and reduced costs by eliminating the old disaster
recovery systems and associated software and database costs.
Convinced senior management to let me split my team into groups of programmers and hire three non-
technical and two technical contractors instead of five contract programmers whose fee’s would fit within
the budget to support a large bank conversion that needed to be done in 3 months instead of 5 months.
This conversion completed 5 days ahead of schedule with no problems with all 5 contractors leaving on
time.
Reorganized support structure for all systems supported so that incoming calls came to a central support
phone instead of everybody. Support procedures were documented, approved and distributed by each
business unit affected. This allowed calls to be tracked and eventually led to a reduction in support calls,
improved morale and overall better support.
Established strong relationships with all vendor and contractor account representatives and support
managers by attending user group meetings, requesting site visits, and conferences to ensure they
understood our installation, site configuration, any issues and future plans.
Successfully trained two technical support staff to use structured SDLC techniques including scope
definition, requirements documents, development estimates, project plans, task assignments, conduct
project meetings, manage user testing, create status reports, facilitate user training, manage problem
resolution and coordinate deployment to serve as part time project managers so smaller approved projects
would not bottleneck for lack of a project manager.
Directly responsible for analyzing, acquiring, installing, testing and deploying the following software and
hardware: HyperChannel, UniGate FTP, IBM MVS FTP, Stratus CICS, Sun Solaris, Oracle, Sun Sparc, IBM
S/88, Advantage Cash Management Application, Mohawk MDS2100, Vector Connection FEDI, Network
Data Mover Mainframe and Server, Momentum, Accusoft to address and resolve business requirements.
Took direct reports to lunch at least once a quarter and Christmas as a morale booster to ensure they knew
they were appreciated for their efforts.
Made sure high performers were recognized for their efforts in such a way that it would encourage other
staff to perform at the same level. Recognition included bonuses, time off, lunch or dinner gift cards, non-
specific gift cards for various denominations and emails to senior and executive management citing their
efforts or short meetings with management that included the person(s) to talk about what they did.
Made sure I spent time getting to know my direct reports so it would be easier for them to talk to me about
job related and non-job related issues.
