PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

KENNAMETAL Solon, Ohio - Contract July 2008– December, 2008

Developed manufacturing simulation using WITNESS software to allow for future planning within their manufacturing

facilities. Created a simulation model of machines and personnel used in manufacture of Kennametal’s Custom Solution

products. Sales downturn at the end of 2008 resulted in an abandonment of future production planning innovation using

computer simulation.

NASA Glenn Research Center - ASRC, Cleveland, Ohio September 2007– June, 2008

NASA's mission is to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research.

Industrial Engineer - Contract

Working with NASA engineers and technicians building Ares 1-X Developmental Rocket replacement for the

Space Shuttle. Building simulated rocket upper and intermediate stages (our portion is 18' diameter and 100'

tall) for initial launch schedule of April 2009. Developing manufacturing methods, tooling and schedules to

meet baseline launch dates. Working with design engineering and fabrication technicians to adapt

manufacturing capabilities to meet the desired design requirements. Rocket is being assembled at Cape

Canaveral for re-scheduled launch in July 2009.

DANLY IEM, Cleveland, OH 2003 to 2007

Manufacturer of die sets and die set components.

Corporate Manufacturing Engineer

Supported production in 6 manufacturing plants using manufacturing engineering techniques.

Worked to implement computerized programming and estimating package on custom parts.

Helped to close 8 manufacturing plants following purchase of major competitor by ownership. Helped to

coordinate consolidation of manufacturing and asset transfers.

Helped prepare equipment for transfer and/ or auction.

CNC programmed machines to aid in product transfer and consolidation.

Manufacturer of landing gear for commercial and military aircraft.

Senior Industrial Engineer

Performed capacity and performance analysis. Integrated new parts into Cleveland manufacturing plant. Directed

efforts to allow passing MIL-STD-1567A (work measurement) compliance audit.

Participated in Lean Manufacturing events.

Brought 777 cylinders and 757 braces into production on time and within budget.

Created computer simulation to analyze capacity of Cleveland and 2 other plants identifying machine and

manpower requirements for additional program capacity.

Created and maintained system to monitor delivery to schedule and throughput of all work orders in plant.

Passed MIL-STD-1567A compliance audit allowing continuation of progress schedule payments for C-17

landing gear.

INVACARE CORPORATION, Elyria, OH 1992 to 1993

Manufacturer of wheelchairs, walkers, lifts, and other rehabilitation aids.

Consultant

Designed and implanted corporate Kanban (JIT) inventory system internally and with suppliers that significantly

reduced inventory, work-in-process, and paperwork, thereby eliminated the need for a planned plant expansion.

CUMULUS COMPUTER, Beachwood, OH 1991 to 1992

Manufacturer of personal computers.

Manufacturing Engineer Manager

Built manufacturing, testing, and warehouse facilities. Designed, structured, and spear-headed consolidation of sub-

contracted manufacturing in house at new facility. Managed staff of 5 engineers.

Started new plant capable of producing 200 computers per shift within 6 weeks of possession of empty

warehouse.

BENDIX HEAVY VEHICLE SYSTEMS, Elyria, OH 1984 to 1990

Division of Allied Signal Corporation, manufacturer of air brake systems for heavy trucks and off-road vehicles.

Staff Engineer

Designed, justified and implemented robotics automation, and automation-assisted operations at 3 manufacturing

facilities in North America. Served on launch teams, assuring manufacturability, quality, and scheduling for

successful introduction of electrical and electronic products including anti-lock brakes, electronic dash displays, and

electronic throttle pedals.

Designed, justified, and had built robotic cell to load and unload cast iron housings to facilitate machining,

washing, and measuring of housings (Frankfort, KY).

Designed, justified, and had built robotic cell to load and unload aluminum assemblies to test equipment

(Charlotte, NC).

Designed, justified, and had built robotic cell to assemble relay valves for truck brakes (London, ON).

Designed, justified, and had built air compressor assembly system including part fixturing and automatic

docking into test facility (Charlotte, NC).
