OVERVIEW:
I have worked in the construction field for more than 20 + years and have been involved in commercial
construction, and have been very aggressive in retail and commercial for the last five years. I enjoy
working in a team environment or individually. I'm very diverse in all fields from estimating, project

Senior Estimator
Drawing and specification review, development of scopes and subcontractors call list, assign
team, prepare kick-off and pre bid strategy meetings. Prepare estimate review with team, open
communications with sub-contractors. Prepare general conditions, assemble bid day sheet, and
check formulas and review bid documents. Perform timberline estimate for self performed
excavation, concrete, carpentry. Work with business development on budgets and conceptual
cost and design.

Senior Estimator
Perform standard estimating practices drawing and specification review, setup of project and application of
bond and insurance requirements. Complete takeoff divisions Two through Sixteen consisting of material,
labor (union or non union) hours /crew hours /crew days and equipment. Also included is detailed cost
estimate in concrete carpentry and some site all self performed. Review and confirm scope of incoming
sub quotations, compile all cost data for final analysis and review of prior history. Complete final bid
review and qualifications and present an accurate estimate to owner for final review. Rebuilding estimating
department by applying new procedures and practices enlisting new estimating programs adding personnel
as required.

Chief Estimator
In this position I was to work closely with business development to acquire new client for the company and
build an estimating staff. I reviewed all in coming projects specifications, bid documents. As follows is my
bidding procedure:
1 Review all specifications and drawings
2 Review all bidding documents
3 Prepare all RFI s for Architects or Engineers response
4 Prepare drawing list and specifications for distribution
5 Solicit sub contractors (minimum five per trade)
6 Prepare detailed takeoff (materials and labor for all sixteen divisions)
7 Prepare spreadsheet tabulations per division
8 Qualify scopes for related subcontractors
9 Prepare final bid analysis for owners review
10 Compare to bid history
11 Submit to owner
12 Follow up with owner
Also I built a successful team of estimators and bid soliciting staff, updated the procedures of department
while building new databases for subcontractors, updating history in to databases, and preparing new city,
statewide databases. This department prepared approximately fifteen bids monthly with a successful
closure rate in a team effort. My goal was to prepare a quality bid for an easy transfer over to project
management. Some related projects 186,000SF retail shopping center with retail build-outs; Various
Shopping centers; various commercial ground up from 10,000 to 125,000sf; IE: BJ Wholesale, Browns
Mack Truck, Best Buy, Auto Dealers Showrooms and Service, Climax Controlled Self Storage; Large
Scale Causal Dining Restaurants. My prior experience in state work and the public sector rounds out my
expertise. Other duties included working in conjunction with VP of Development and Head of
Construction on the conceptual design for large scale warehousing projects. Estimate was performed as
follows:
1 Developed design strategies based on Request for Proposal
2 Develop estimate of material and labor per conceptual design practices
3 Confirm quantities and labor with sub contractors
4 Present estimate and design practices to design team
5 Present all associated soft costs and permitting
6 Prepare final cost analysis and review with design team
7 Prepare final draft of project synopsis with qualifications and exclusions for review by VP of
development

Director of Estimating
In my past position I oversaw a department of 4 estimators, 2 purchasers and 3 sourcing staff. I reviewed all
incoming bid documents and delegated work to sourcing and estimating team for quantity take-off/labor
pricing and keep in communication with owners, Architects/Engineers and project managers during bid. I
review all sub bids from contractors and qualify all related scopes prior to bid, work closely with estimator
in final review of numbers, overseeing the difference in Sub-bids vs. our numbers and found bids, prepare
final bid for owner review. This department bid 6 to 10 projects weekly with a win ratio of 80% by
constant follow-up to owner and final contract negotiations. Also oversaw the purchasing of subcontracts
for awarded projects and preparation of Timberline job costs. In this I watched closely the negotiations and
review of scopes prior to award. Some clients consist of Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Lowe’s Home Centers,
Amerisuties Hotel, Wynhdym Hotels, SurGuard Self Storage, Various Healthcare, schools and
Design/Build. Projects range from 2m to 15mm

Senior Estimator/Purchasing
In the years with the firm I progressed through all phases as the company increased in size and volume. I
started as an estimator and quickly entered the project management phase, as more work was being
awarded my duties included scheduling, subcontractor scope review, payment requests, owner billing,
material tracking and project close-out. As the firm grew so did my duties I was made head of the
Purchasing Department where my duties included: review of estimators’ quantities and sub-contractors
quotes to determine a final bid analysis for presentation to the partners. Review contractor bids, scope and
final contract award. Provide procurement, scheduling and tracking of all required material, review of all
jobs costing. As part of the company success I performed marketing of the company to prospective clients
via telephone and Internet. Merit/Dover started the first year completing 10 jobs ahead of schedule and
showing a profit on all projects. 5 years later we as a team have grown to performing 30 to 40 projects
yearly with most being repeat clients.
