PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Cummins Inc Jan2009
Manufacturing Engineer
Currently working on engine assembly layout, incorporating the cellular manufacturing/lean
manufacturing principles. The project aims at significantly improving the productivity at the facility.
This is a part of a six sigma black belt project.
Currently working on the warehouse improvements project. The project aims at incorporating the
latest warehousing principles to improve stocking and picking efficiency.
Ensuring BOM’s are correct, and perform related activities.
Cummins Inc May2008 –Aug2008
Industrial Engineering Intern
Constructed a computer simulation for the Cummins Mercruiser facility using ‘Witness’. Model
consisted of not only the manufacturing operations but also the entire value chain from marketing
forecast to material planning. Project included extensive interaction with functional experts in each
area, data collection, data modeling and coding logic into the model to make model representative of
real life operations. The model became a useful tool for testing various scenarios.
Cummins India Limited Aug2005- Aug2007
Graduate Engineering Trainee.
Participated in a structured two year Operations Management Training Program and completed following
projects as part of this program.
Design and implementation of ‘Returnable Pallet System’ for air intake manifold.
KANBAN implementation on C series engine assembly line.
Development of dual source for engine critical parts.
Down time reduction of ‘Injector calibration test stand’ from 25% to 10 %.
Development of Excel model for capacity assessment of 75 suppliers for up to 800 parts.
Knowledge of engine assembly and testing procedures, manufacturing processes such as casting, forging,
machining of ferrous and aluminum parts and Gear cutting.
Experience in Sourcing includes vendor development and vendor quality assurance with exposure to APQP,
PPAP methodology for new parts development. Development of Sourcing Strategy to ensure achievement of
cost, quality and delivery targets, through spend and quality data analysis.
Participation in two six sigma projects as a team member.
TCO reduction of Lub pump gears by 30 %.
Cycle count reduction in MRP system by 20 %.
