Conducted benchmarking for purposes of migration from Unix-hosting Fujitso mainframe

to Unix-hosting IBM LPAR Z10 IFL. Migration is from Solaris based platform to a

combination of SuSE and RedHat Linux, which requires baseline comparison type

performance work under various workloads, with iterative tuning efforts. Oracle 10g

QA Application Performance Measurement Testing

Within an extremely fast paced, complex eCommerce environment (Akamai, BigIP, J2EE:

Apache, Weblogic, Verity, Oracle, RedHat, to additional supporting backend mainframe

components; As400, DB2, MQ Series); gathered performance requirements, created

performance test plans, wrote VuGen scripts, created LoadRunner scenarios, gathered

test data, ran the workloads, collected the performance data, analyzed and presented

results for many eCommerce Web Store applications. Also used JMeter and Avalanche.

Created requirements for performance targets for various applications and components

based on production performance data and modeling.

Designed, ran, analyzed, and presented many types of performance tests, including Java

JVM Heap memory leak testing, ESB/MULE/SOA requests, Web Services and other

component testing, to full, load, and stress performance testing.

PE validation for Search Engine improvements within an architecture comprised of Linux,

Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, AJAX JavaScript, Endeca and Oracle 10g RAC

implementations. Developed LoadRunner (8.1) scripts incorporating latest scripting techniques

– Click and Script. Combined LoadRunner scripting and C coding techniques to determine and

subsequently use Search Engine results in the form of Guided Navigation Endeca Dimensions,

Dimension Values, and identify Descriptors. Created workloads and workload models from

statistical data provided by the business and development areas. Created the associated

LoadRunner scenarios. Ran the workloads, analyzed and presented the results, and

Conducted load, stress and performance level planning, testing and results analysis for a 3-tier

.NET, SQL Server 2000/2003 based application. Used MS Query Analyzer to submit SQL to

the database, simulating the activities of the front end. Using shell scripting techniques,

automated the time-consuming tasks of controlling perfmon, gathering logs etc., on several

servers at once. Worked closely with both development and business sides to ensure proper

performance goals. Planning a performance evaluation of an NT/IIS Web Based application

using LoadRunner 8.0.

Conducted many JAVA (JDBC) LoadRunner scripts running directly against large Sybase DB

for purposes of measuring back-end response time and resource consumption for capacity

planning purposes. Required ability to write and parameterize small Java driver programs, with

assistance from the developers.

Capacity Planning and Application Performance Measurement Testing

Conducted capacity and performance study of company’s heavy Solaris PHP Apache

WebSphere Oracle based C2B web applications for www.lawyers.com. An 8i to 9i upgrade of

Oracle, along with modification to the current application design was successfully quantified. A

second, CPU intensive application using Oracle Application Server was being co-located on

new server hardware with the new version of the core application. Used excel, HP MWA,

Perfview, Unix shell scripting, and SQL for modeling a peak hour. Used LoadRunner to

simulate production peak hour traffic in a scalable lab environment. Created the model, the

performance test plan, lead the development of LoadRunner scripts with a 3-member team,

implemented the plan, and produced results showing the appropriate increased resources

required. Provided skills transfer, best practices, and process-improvement suggestions.

Reviewing several other applications from a performance perspective, including Siebel.
